Step 1 -write the words on the board, underline stress pron. or difficult
pron., or word family

Step 2 Pron. clearly, ask SS to repeat (in chorus and individually)
Step 3 Use different techniques to show the meaning of the words by:
Definition,
Example
Real objects/ flashcards
Situation
…

Step 4 Expand the use of new words by :
-giving its usage
-giving phrases
-giving situation to use the words
-make example sentences based on T actions/ teaching before
that (reinforce)
-encourage SS to think, talk about things they know or
themselves.
- give ss more practice (T talk – S action, say yes / no)

Step 5 -explain meaning in the books/ phrases that have in the books
-do exercises related to the new words

Things to remember
-chọn cách mở bài/ chọn từ vựng dạy theo thứ tự dễ hiễu, mở
rộng/ thực hành tùy thuộc vào time/ khả năng của hs
Chọn cách mở rộng làm sao hs phát huy nhiều nhất khả năng
nghe /nói/ hiểu/ tương tác
Sử dụng tiếng việt linh hoạt/ ko cứng nhắc/
Quan trọng nhất hs hiểu nghĩa của từ/ cụm câu/ thông điệp của
bài
Chuẩn bị handout từ vựng để dạy theo nội dung có sẵn, hs dễ
quan sát và ko mất công viết nhiều
Có sự kết nối của các từ vựng giống nhau/ liên quan
Time dạy cho từng từ mới không giống nhau, tùy theo mức độ
khó/ hay lập lại/ liên quan đến nội dung sau đó
Luôn dịch lại nếu hs ko hiểu
Đồng hành/ khuyến khích hs trả lời
Cho hs thực hành (drill) cho quen, sau đó mới thay đổi
Ex: How long have you lived here?
S: I have live here for 10 years
T: How long have you live in Bien Hoa City?
