Geometric Sequence

A geometric sequence is a sequence of numbers that follows a

pattern were the next term is found by multiplying by a constant
called the common ratio, r.

Formula of getting the nth term in a geometric sequence :

n-1
a n = a1 r

Find the common ratio: 1, 2, 4, 8

Formula of getting the common ratio: a2 / a1

2 / 1 = 2

Common ratio = 2

Other examples:
Geometric Sequence

n-1
a n = a1 r

an = nth term
a1 = 1st term
r = common ratio
n = number of terms

= 156,250
Geometric Series
A geometric series is the sum of an infinite number of terms that
have a constant ratio between successive terms.

FORMULA:

Geometric Mean
FORMULA:

√a ⋅ b
Sample problem: Find the mean between 2 and 8

Formula: √a ⋅ b
√2 ⋅ 8
√16
= 4

The mean between 2 and 8 is 4.
