1.0 CABLE TRENCH INSPECTION

1.1 Check clearance from civil is obtained for Cable Trench..

1.2 Check & verify cable route as per AFC drawing.

1.3 Check provision of sufficient mechanical protection to existing underground /


above ground utilities crossing the excavated cable route.

1.4 Check cable trench depth and width as per AFC drawing.

1.5 Check cable trench bottom is flat and sand bedding is correct

1.6 Check & ensure cable trench is clean and free from stones, debris & other
unwanted materials.
Check Excavated material shall be deposited a minimum of 1 meter away from
1.7 the trench.

2.0 CABLE DUCT INSPECTION

2.1 Check clearance from civil is obtained for Cable duct

2.2 Ensure all the duct banks, crossings and tunnel works (Whichever applicable) are
completed prior to laying of cables.

2.3 Check and ensure approved cable duct is being installed at site

2.4 Inside the duct bank Spare sleeves are provided with pulling ropes, where
applicable

2.5 Check duct bank location and dimensional check-up for the installed ducts along
the cable route.

2.6 Check duct outer edge for sharpness & duct cleanliness

3.0 UNDERGROUND CABLE LAYING INSPECTION

3.1 Check and confirm material inspection of cables are completed.

3.2 Cable drum placing shall be on solid flat surface

Check and ensure that cables shall not contacted with ground while pulling the

3.4 Check for any physical damage of cable

3.5 Check existing cable encountered in the trench shall be realigned to


accommodate the new cable.

3.6 Check and verify laying arrangement of cable.

3.7 Check and verify size, type and voltage rating of laid cables.

3.8 Check cables shall be laid in parallel with no twists or crossovers.

3.9 Check single core cable laid in trefoil formation with non-magnetic clamps.

3.10 Check the cleats for single core cables are being spaced not more than 650mm.

3.11 Confirm cable crossing under the concrete cable shall be protect with uPVC pipe.

3.12 Confirm cable emerging from the soil shall be laid inside Rigid PVC (Schedule 40)
or galvanized steel pipe.

3.13 Confirm cables emerging from ground / Stub up cable opening shall be located
nearest point (underneath gland plate) of field equipment

3.14 HV Cables pulling with winch operation shall be not more than maximum
allowable tension in line with cable manufacturer recommendation.

3.15 Check the cable ends shall be protected against ingress of moisture / dust.

3.16 Check cable transits (MCT) shall be reinstated after the final cable laying.

3.17 Check the cable passing through the MCT cable shall perpendicular to the frame
for a minimum distance of 100mm either side of the frame.

3.18 Check and confirm cable tag numbers are correct and provided every 5 meter
intervals

3.19 Check and confirm all cables are laid as per cable schedule / layout

3.20 Check segregation from power cable, control cable, IS & non IS cables shall be
provided properly.

3.21 Confirm the bending radius of cables correct

3.22 Confirm no over lapping of cables inside trench & underneath of the panels.

Check end caps shall be provided at both the ends to prevent ingress of

3.24 Check and record cable continuity and insulation resistance test after cable
laying

4.0 POST-INSTALLATION INSPECTION

4.1 Check sand bedding done after cable laying

4.2 Check and ensure cable duct banks have been sealed properly on both ends
4.3 Check and ensure cable protection tiles are provided

4.4 Check and ensure warning tapes are provided

4.5 Check final backfilling done


Check colored concrete are provided along the cable route in paved area
4.6 (Red concrete for electrical and Green Concrete for instrument)

4.7 Check route marker are provided.

4.8 Check route marker installation on straight routes distances shall not exceeding
50 meter and also provide at every direction change.

4.9 Check substitute material and any finished surface or paving shall be reinstated.
