CLASS SUSPENDED SET B SET A SET B SET A
A, Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of the relationship among the locations of volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and mountain ranges.
B. Performance Standards The learners should be able to:
1) demonstrate ways to ensure disaster preparedness during earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions;
suggest ways by which he/she can contribute to government efforts in reducing damage due to earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions
C. Learning Competencies/ Describe the distribution of active volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and major mountain belts.
Objectives Specific Objectives: Given the necessary materials, 80 % of the students should be able to:
1) describe the Earth's lithosphere;
2) differentiate oceanic and continental crust;
3) infer that the Earth's lithosphere is divided into plates; and
4) identify the major lithospheric plates

IV. PROCEDURES Sept 5-6, 2023 Sept 7-8, 2023

A. Reviewing previous lesson Preliminary Activities: A. ELICIT - Lesson Review (Strategy 1: Enhancing Literacy Skill: Picture
or presenting the new lesson Analysis)
 Greetings
 Classroom conditioning Teacher’s Input:
 Checking of Attendance  Based on the illustration, what are the different
 Orientation of Class Rules divisions of earth’s sphere?
 Subject/Course Grading System and Requirement  Describe each sphere.

B. Establishing a purpose for Test Proper: B. ENGAGE - Establishing Purpose/Presenting Examples (Strategy 2:
the lesson 1) Remind the students on the importance of taking the Enhancing Numerical Skill- Q&A)
Diagnostic Test. Teacher’s Input:
2) Instruct them to prepare paper and pen.
 What is being shown in the given illustration?
 Which is the thickest layer of the earth?
 Which is the thinnest layer?
(Mention the measured thickness and help the students imagine that
measurement)

C. Presenting N/A N/A

examples/instances of the
new lesson
D. Discussing new concepts Lesson Proper: C. EXPLORE - Discussing New Concepts/Practicing Skills (Strategy 3 –
and practicing new skills #1 a) Discussion of the test policies. Answering Activity)
b) Discussion of the course objectives and to let them underst  Discuss the activity given to the students during class suspensions and
and the importance of passing the subject. (RECALL) answer the other attached activity.
TN: See Attachment
E. Discussing new concepts N/A D. EXPLAIN - Developing Mastery:
and practicing new skills #2 Formative Assessment
1. Describe lithosphere. Write your answer on box.

Lithosphere is...

Lithosphere is....

Lithosphere is...

2. Differentiate continental crust and oceanic crust.

Write the common description on the part in which the two circles
overlapped.

F. Developing mastery N/A N/A

(Leads to Formative
Assessment)
G. Finding Practical N/A E. ELABORATE - Practical Applications; Generalizations (Strategy 5 – Individual
applications of concepts and
Activity)
skills in daily living
Teachers’ Input:
 Make a short essay, consists of 5 sentences, on what you have learned
about lithosphere and two types of crust.

H. Making generalizations and N/A N/A

abstractions about the lesson
I. Evaluating learning Conduct the 1st Diagnostic Test F. EVALUATE - Summative Assessments (Strategy 6)
I. Read each statement/question carefully and choose the letter of the
best answer.

b. Lithosphere comprises the crust and the mantle.
c. Lithosphere is where the earthquakes occur.
d. Lithosphere is divided into lithospheric plates.
2. Which of the following expresses the true difference between oceanic
and continental crust?
a. Oceanic crust is thicker than the continental crust.
b. Oceanic crust is older than the continental crust.
