will only use 2 picture clues. This game

ends used as decorative ribbons.
How about the second picture? How do
you pronounce ‘B-O-W’ there? BOW(bou)

Yes! It is bow, which means bending the


head, body or knee.
These examples are so closely related
to our topic for today, which is
homographs.
D. Discussing new Aside from homonyms, another way of
concepts and increasing one’s vocabulary is through
practicing new skills homographs. Homographs are related to
the concepts of homonyms.
Homographs are types of homonyms.
They have the same spellings but with
different sounds and meanings.

The words that you encountered earlier


are examples of homograph. They have
same spellings and sometimes same
sounds or pronunciation but different
meanings. Also they can have same
spellings but different pronunciation and
meanings.
Example:
read1
read2

Read and read are homographs. They


have the same spelling but with different
pronunciation and meanings. Read1
means you are instructed to read
something while read2 is the past tense
of read.
Another example is the word lead1
which means to guide others while lead2
is a type of metal.
To understand further what homographs
are, let us answer these questions that I
