THE UNIVERSITY OF BAMENDA

HIGHER INSTITUTE OF COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT (HICM)

GUIDELINES/FORMAT TO INTERNSHIP REPORT WRITING

OCTOBER, 2022
2

Introduction

Internship is a compulsory aspect in professional training. Given that HICM has the
objective of training professionals that will contribute to develop individual,
community, national and international development there is need for internship.

At the University of Bamenda and HICM in particular, internship is expected to

cover at least six months in the total duration of training for the three years that the
students are expected to undertake training at HICM. To ensure that this is achieve,
the SIX MONTHS duration has been spread to cover year one and year two summer
periods during with three months each of internship practice should be done. At the
end of each internship practice, a report is written and presented in front of a Jury
which forms a major component of evaluation in that respect. These adjustments are
expected to go operation for the year one students who enrolled in 2021/2022
academic year.

Being a fundamental aspect of professional training, there is need for students to

prove that they were actually at internship and a lot was learned in that respect. To
ensure this is accomplished, the interns are expected to write a report which is
defended before a jury upon which a component of the evaluation is done.

Basis of Evaluation

The Internship Training of students is evaluated as follows:

S.N Activity Evaluation

i Presentation and Assessment by a Jury 30 %
ii Field assessment by Academic Supervisor 20 %
iii Report from Field Supervisor 50 %
Total 100 %
3

This report may take different forms for different institutions, however, for academic
purpose and to ensure uniformity, the following has been proposed for students at
HICM – UBa.

The interns are advised to go along with a jotter, upon studying the content of a
report. This will enable them collect data for the respective aspects needed to write
the report.
