Gaño - Weekly Narrative Report #8
The session at the EDSES started with very gloomy and cold weather. We did not
see Alexis, our last mentee, but we had another, Laurence, who is also a Grade 5 student.
Just like any other session, due to the small number of students, my partner again is
Teacher Jewel, and I was in charge of the Literacy while she was in charge of the
Numeracy. Even though Alexis was absent, the worksheet I prepared was answered by
Laurence. My worksheet is focused on vocabulary words, and it consists of two parts with
16 items, and Laurence got only six correct answers. I am still proud that he got a score
because I know he answered the worksheet with all of his might. After checking his
answers and getting the score, we also did some processing so that Laurence could really
get the hang of vocabulary words. I also explained how we can correctly answer this kind
of worksheet and that we should first understand the sentence and find the correct word
that will fit in. Just like Alexis, Laurence can also understand more of the concepts that I
teach when I translate them to Tagalog for him. I was so happy for Laurence because he
got to learn new things from me and Teacher Jewel. After our session with him, we talked
