So far in this unit, I have been conducting a handful of things that will help me to see where I

am currently at in terms of college work, and also basic life skills, with also what I need to do
in order to give myself a better opportunity going forward. The job role that I chose to go into
in more detail is Journalism, this is because it is something that I have been doing outside of
college with the Warrington Wolves and Prost International since I started college in 2021.

As of Today, I don’t think my portfolio is as strong as it should be in terms of a different range

of variety of content. However, with the things that I am doing in terms of match reports,
programme work and match previews will help me massively to stand out against employers,
and gives me a really good step in the right direction. To help me improve, by doing loads of
content will help me to make my portfolio much broader, and I have the whole of this year to
do that.

I also don’t think I would be capable of working full-time as of yet in the Journalism role
because I haven’t got all of the experience, but I have the rest of this year to make me a
better journalist and to fill my portfolio out to a better degree. To help me and get better at
this, I will be putting my hand up for my work at Warrington to ensure that I get better
experience and so I can start seeing improvements in my whole round work,

I have a lot of strengths going into this new year because I have been getting work
experience all summer with Warrington which has helped my confidence massively, and has
given me a clear goal at what I want to achieve in the coming months leading up to the end
of the year. I also think getting work experience like this will put me in the hierarchy to other
employers because I am working at a professional level consistently with the best people. I
also think my biggest strength in terms of editing software is photoshop because that is what
I based my Final Major Project on last year for my front cover and contents page.

In terms of weaknesses, I think I could be better at working to deadlines more efficiently, and
to not rush but do my work quicker and focus more. I also think that I need to improve my
spelling, and grammar because that is a big thing in Journalism and if I can’t master that, I
have no chance. To have the full year this year to get my head down and improve these
things, will be crucial for myself, while I will be getting lessons from my tutors and other
people that I work with. Another thing that I think is a weakness would be using premiere
pro because I need to start learning how to do the basic things better such as traditions and
time scales of each shot. To get better at this, looking at videos will be the main priority and
to make sure I keep on doing short films for me to achieve this.
