Weather disturbances
- Is also referred to as natural disasters as they are capable of wreaking a
chaos in the surroundings.

- Natural disasters are the most adverse event resulting from natural process
of the earth that can cause loss of lices or damage properties and typically
leaves some economic damage in ts wake.

Types of natural disaster

1. Earthquakes (lindol)– are the result of forces deep within the earths interior.
Sudeen beark within the upper layers of the earth, sometimes breaking the
urface, resulting into vibration of the ground, which where strong enough will
cause the collapse of building and distruction of life and property,

2. Landslide (pag- guho ng lupa/bato) – is the movement of soil or rock

controlled by the gravity and th speed of the movement ussually ranges
between slow and rapid, but not very slow. The movement has to be
downward and outward with a free face. It is caised by heavy rain, soil
erosionand earth tremors and may also happen in areas under heavy snow
(avalanche)

3. Tsunami – is a series of waves caused by a rapid displacement of a body of

water(ocean, lake). Triggers of tsunami can be: earthquakes, volcanic
erruptions, ,ass movements, meteorite impacts or underwater explosions.

4. Floods – general floods can be predicted in advance, except in the case of

flash floods. Flash floods are sudden and extreme volume o water that flows
rapidly and cause deluge. The impact of flooding can include destruction of
housing, crops, cattle and people.

5. Drought – is define as deficiency(lack) of rainfall over an extended period -

as season, a year or several years.

6. Typhoons, Storms, hurricanes, Cyclone – refer to a large scale close

clockwise i the southers hemisphere.

7. Epidemic – is then unussual increase in the number of cases of an infection

disease which alrready exist in a certain region or population. Epidemics may
be the cinsequence od disasters of anlther kind such as tropical storm,
floods, earthquakes, droughts, etc. Epidemic may also attack animals,
causing local economic disaster.

8. Wildfire – is also called wildland fire, uncontrolled fire in the forest, grassland,
brushland or land sown to cops. Fire danger in a wildland setting varies with
weather conditions: drought, heat and wind wind participate in drying out the
timber, or other fule making it easier to ignite.

9. Heat wave – period of prolonged abnormally high surface temperatures

relative to those normally expected.

Natural disasters occur unexpectedly, do we know how to manage these disaster
