1. Aldrin copied details from two original texts and joined the two to
form his summary.
2. Elizabeth read the original material and listed down important
details in her notebook.
3. John used a semantic web to relate important details to the main

4. Evelyn underlined important sentences and restated them in her

Learners will be divided into four (4) groups.
Instruction:
1. As a reader, you must also enrich your reading ability by reading
and analyzing various academic texts. Below is a news article that
depicts love amidst pandemic.
2. Your task is to read and extract the main idea and supporting
details of the news article. Use the graphic organizer below.
3. Make and present your own summary of the news article
based on the main ideas and supporting details you have
written.
Learners will provide real- life scenarios where summarizing may be
effectively used.
 Summarizing in everyday communication
recapping a day, telling about a vacation, giving the highlights
of a meeting or an event, providing the major points of a
decision-making process, giving background information on a
student, describing the ebb and flow of an exciting sporting
event—the list goes on.
 Summarizing in providing an overview of timely and
relevant social issues.
Let the learners share their understanding on the topic by answering
