to bear 335 (c) and “Bandar-e-Sirik” light FL(3)20s38m28M (26º 30΄N 057º 05.5΄E) to bear 065(c),
a) - Find Lat. & Long of the position obtained. (8 marks)

b) - From the position obtained find course to steer by compass and speed made good to a
position 15 miles East of “Port of Fujayrah” light Fl (5s)22M (25º 11΄ N 056º 21΄E), making
due allowance for a current estimated to be setting 150º(T) at 3 knots and for 5º leeway due to
strong Easterly gale. (12 marks)

Q.2) Vessel in position 5 miles North of “Ras sheikh masud” light house (26º 15.5΄ N 056º 13΄ E)
requires to reach position 5 miles North East of “Jazh-ye-Tonb-e bozorg" Lighthouse (26° 17' N
055° 17' E) (Fl 5s75m10M) , With speed of 15 Kts. After steaming for three hours “Jazh-ye-Tonb-e
bozorg” Lighthouse bearing taken to be 10º on port bow and its distance 18 miles.
Find the actual set and drift if during the passage, current was assumed to set 050º at rate
of 2.5 Knots and if 7º of leeway to be considered for Southerly wind. (20 Marks)

Q.3) Find the predicted time and height of HW and LW at Glasgow (ATT VOL.1) for the
raising AM time on 4th /April /2000. (15 Marks)

Q.4) Calculate initial and final courses and distance on Great Circle
from Otago in position: Lat 45 º 47΄ S , Long 170 º 45΄ E
to Callao in position : Lat 12 º 04΄ S , Long 077 º 14΄ W (15 Marks)
