PURPOSE
The purpose of the assignment is to enhance students’ understanding, knowledge and
application of cognitive psychology.

PART 1

You are required to answer the below questions and support your discussions with
literature review from reputable sources.

The Gestaltists emphasised the importance of figure-ground segregation in perceptual

organisation. One object or part of the visual field is identified as the figure, whereas the
rest of the visual field is less important and so forms the ground.

In this assignment, you are required to answer the following:

a. Describe Gestalt laws of perceptual organisation according to their doctrine of

isomorphism.

b. Explain the differences between bottom-up and top-down perceptual grouping with
relevant examples.

c. Discuss in detail individual differences and cultural diversity that influence the
personal ability of perceptual organisation.

Ahli-ahli Gestalt menekankan pentingnya perasingan bentuk-latar dalam organisasi

perseptual. Suatu objek ataupun sebahagian daripada lapangan penglihatan dikenal pasti
sebagai bentuk, manakala lapangan penglihatan yang lain adalah kurang penting dan
menjadi asasnya.

Dalam tugasan ini, anda dikehendaki menjawab perkara-perkara berikut:
