Quiz Bee Mechanics


A qualifying round shall be done in each respective classroom to identify the contestants for the quiz bee.
There will be:
1. (1) Participant per section at the Elementary level.
2. (3) Participants per section at the Junior High School level.
3. (3) Participants per strand at the Senior High School level.

For Elementary Level


 This is a group contest. The group will be divided into two (2) categories: PRIMARY and INTERMEDIATE
 Each group will be composed of three students. One each for grades 1 – 3 (PRIMARY) and the same thing for
grades 4 – 6 (INTERMEDIATE).

For Junior High School Level


 Three each for grades 7 – 10.

For Senior High School Level


 Three each for HUMSS, STEM, ABM & GAS

A. General Mechanics
1. The Mathematics quiz covers Basic Math for Elem, JHS, and SHS.
2. The contest shall be conducted in three (3) rounds: Easy, Average, and Difficult.
3. Each question will have a corresponding point/s.
4. The group to answer correctly will have the point.
B. Reading Mechanics
5. Each question in any given round has a corresponding time limit and type of question.
a. Easy round 10 seconds: multiple-choice form, identification, or problem-solving.
b. Average round 30 seconds: multiple-choice form, identification, or problem-solving.
c. Difficult round 1 minute: open-ended.
d. Clincher 30 seconds: open-ended.
6. The question will be read twice.
7. The contestant/s can only answer the question after the Quiz Master says the word “GO” at the end of the
second reading.
C. Answering Mechanics
8. Each group will be provided with cardboard with white chalk for their final answers and scratch papers. On
the cardboard, the group number is indicated.
9. Answers must be printed legibly on the black part of the cardboard.
10. For multiple-choice, write the letter only.
11. For open-ended questions, box the final answer.
12. Wrong spelling is wrong.
13. The group must wait for the go signal before writing their answers/solutions.
D. Scoring Mechanics
14. The contestant/group shall follow a point system of scoring.
a. Easy round – 1 point per correct answer
b. Average round – 3 points per correct answer
c. Difficult round – 5 points per correct answer
15. At the end of each round, the cumulative score of each contestant will be computed.
16. At the end of the contest, the contestant(s)/group with the highest cumulative score shall be declared the
Champion. The next highest-scoring contestant(s)/group shall be declared First, Second, and Third,
respectively.
E. Tie-Breaking Mechanics
17. In case of a tie, a clincher will be asked worth 1 point.

NOTE: Any student/group caught in any act of cheating or any form of dishonesty shall automatically be disqualified.
