A Detailed Lesson Plan in TLE 4

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:

a. describe on how to take care pigeon and love birds;


b. cite ways on how to take care pigeons and lovebirds;and
c. enumerate how to take care of pigeons and lovebirds.

II. Subject Matter:


- Topic: Caring for Pigeons and Caring for Lovebirds
- References: Learning and Living in the 21st Century pp. 140-145, Leonora D. Basbas.
- Materials: Printed materials,cartolina, pictures
- Values: Cite ways on how to take care of pigeons and lovebirds.

III. Learning Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

a. Prayer
Okay class, everybody please stand up (One student will lead the prayer)
and let us pray.

b. Greetings
Good Morning class! “Good Morning teacher!”
How are you today? We are good teacher
That’s great! Happy to hear that.

c. Checking of Attendance
As I call your names just raise your (Pupils raise their hand and say present as the
hands and say present. teacher call their names)

B. Procedure

● Activity:
Class, Before we proceed to our lesson.
I will show you something. And you’re going
to touch it one by one and describe it. (I will
show them a real pigeon)

● Analysis:
1. Now, who among you has a pigeon? (Students have different answer)
2. Who among you has a lovebird?
3. What can you notice in this pigeon?

● Abstraction:

It’s about caring for Pigeons and Lovebirds.
Pigeons are very sensitive birds when it
comes to feeding, health conditions,
cleanliness of their shelter, and physical
movements as freedom to fly around their
cage. And also pigeons are colorful,
affectionate, and considered smart birds. And
the lovebirds this creature is cheerful and has
gorgeous coloring which makes it perfect in
any home. Generally, lovebirds make great
pets for everyone.

Now let’s have further discussion on how to


take care of pigeons and lovebirds.

But before that we will watch a

Pigeons are not just pets. They can


also be a source of income by
engaging in pigeon breeding as a
business. Breeding different types of
pigeon is very popular and profitable
to those who engage in pigeon racing
and to other pigeon breeders.
And also there are some benefits you
can enjoy in having pigeons in your
home or backyard.
Okay so in starting up, the following
should be considered.

Make sure you have sufficient space such as a


backyard, garage, rooftop, or any ample space
for your cage depending on the size and
numbers of pigeons.

You should build separate compartments


inside your cage depending on the number of
pigeons. A pair of pigeons (male and female)
per compartment is a must to avoid territorial
disputes. How to take care of your Pigeons

Feed them regularly at least three times a day.


Feed them with pellets or conditioner which
could be bought in any poultry supply store.

Provide them with clean drinking water. You


may add powdered vitamins which could also
be bought in any poultry supply store.

In case your pigeons have laid eggs, place a


light bulb inside the cage to help successful
hatchlings. Next is the lovebirds.

Lovebirds.
1. Lovebirds are attractive and loving
animals.
2. They are gifted with chirping skills
and a wonderful bubbly personality.
3. They are affectionate and make an
outstanding pet.
4. Lovebirds are considered tiny or little
parrots.

They occasionally indulge in loud chirping


sessions which makes them happy to watch.

5. Gray-headed lovebird
6. Black-cheeked lovebird

Making a house for your lovebirds


- Make sure you have a large space for
your birdcage.
- Select a location where your lovebirds
will not disturb any family member
and even your neighbors if they start
to chirp loudly.
- Make sure to provide a bowl or
shallow dish for water and bird seed or
pellets.

We have basic pointers in caring for your


lovebirds. So in caring for your lovebirds, you
should consider the following. These points
will help you take care of your pet so that it
can live a long period of time.

- You should be financially able to


provide for your lovebirds’ expenses.
- Dedicate time and focus on playing
and giving attention to your lovebirds.
- Lovebirds require a lot of attention and
affection; you must be able to provide
it for them.
- Feed your lovebirds with are
commended seed mix for a healthy
meal.
- Always provide lots of water for your
lovebirds and vitamins. They love to
preen in for bathing to keep their
feathers are healthy

So that you can maintain healthy lovebirds,
you should not only provide healthy food and
playthings. You should also provide a clean
and healthy cage.
- Ideally, clean their cage once a week.

- You can wash the cage with birdcage


cleaners that are available at a pet
store.
- Disinfect the cage with bleach and
water mixture.Thoroughly disinfect
every surface.
- Put your lovebirds back inside the
cage and give them fresh food and
water.
- Secure cage doors and windows
