For creativity, it is kinda embarrassing to say this myself, honestly. However, I think
this is one distinguishing characteristic that any FTU-er possesses. As part of a
team, I will try to be an active member who raises my ideas for innovations when
SUITABLE. I mean, I have to observe and gain enough insight into a problem or
even an organisation before sharing my own ideas. I used to be the Head of Content
for my high school’s English club before. One of the events that linger the longest
time in my memory is when we held a Spring charity fair, which attracted more than
200 people. As a leader of the Content department, I thought long and hard about
how to organise as many interesting and engaging activities as possible for the
attendants.
Lastly, as a typical Libra, I will feel greatly tortured by shame and remorse if I
betrayed anyone’s trust. Therefore, should any task be assigned to me, I will try my
100% best to complete it on time. There have been many instances when I was the
only one to meet the deadlines, for our midterm presentations, or for other tasks in
several extracurriculum clubs.
2/ What are your 03 biggest weaknesses? Please tell us your action plan to
improve your weaknesses. (No more than 300 words)
Honestly, I think I am pretty low-tech and slow to update to the latest trends. Or, to
be more exact, I do not like catching up or joining the trends that originates from a
bad or unethical situation, like the case of Miss Ý Nhi. Admittedly, constructive
opinions from the predecessors can be raised for her improvement, yet when people,
especially the youngsters constantly, reiterated her interview answers and led it to
form of cyber bullying, I thought it was lucky that I did not get myself involved in
the first place. However, I still want to blend in with the current, so I am trying to
use social media more effectively to gain truly valuable information and build up
more creative and trendy ideas.
Just a few weeks ago, I thought that being a result-driven person is nothing wrong.
However, when I got into conflicts with the Ice-breakers team, I realised how
important the process is. If I want myself or any other members to become
fully-committed to the task or the project, I must try to foster a collaborative and
friendly environment inside. Therefore, now, when I work as part of a team, I
always try to encourage others to share their opinions and focus on the bonding
activities as well.
Finally, I have to admit that sometimes I can become really indecisive, especially
when both options are great. I think it is really important that I learn how to take on
multiple viewpoints and consult for the best-suited answer. Therefore, when
working in teams for our midterm, I always try to listen attentively to others’
opinion and pick up some positive points to combine them with the whole
Secondly, personal growth. Honestly, I can not envisage much about this, yet the
chances of meeting and chatting with some current BEC members provide me with
a rough insight into how they have developed themselves thanks to the environment
and the co-members of B-E-C. I remember one sunbae said that she was really
proud of this system in B-E-C!
4/ Out of 35+ clubs in FTU2, why did you choose to "wings up and glide into"
BEC? Why do you think BEC should choose you to be a part of us? (No more
than 250 word)
I think that I and B-E-C are a match made in heaven. There have been many
coincedences between us I will cite now to prove this.
1) The first booth that I entered on Welcome day is of B-E-C, and I also only
took pictures with the picture frame of you guys
2) I met chị Khanh Ngan on FTU’s day when I was kinda lost so I asked her for
clarifications
3) B-E-C was also one of the only 3 booths that I visited at FTU's club fair, and
I won first place for the game among 3 teams that you organised.
4) 18/10- last Wednesday was the day B-E-C organised the Coffee talk event,
which was also my 18th birthday. I received a lot of presents as my team won
first place in your game! I will count those as birthday presents from các anh
chị iu dấu của iem.
Honestly, I am very spiritually-inclined, and with these signs, I know that there’s no
other destination more suited for me than B-E-C.
One more thing, my favorite singer is Taylor Swift, whose song “ You belong with
me” was used as B-E-C’s theme song!
Also, I am really appreciative of your help since I first got into the school until now.
Chị Thiên Ân is one of the most trusted mentors of mine at this moment, and I am
sure that I can become one like her in the future if I can be part of B-E-C!
5/ What do you expect to gain when becoming a part of BEC? (What BEC is
expected to provide you with?) (No more than 150 words)
I don’t think that I could see such happy and satisfied faces of B-E-C sunbaes if they
are not happy with the club. Therefore, with all the words that B-E-C has stated, I
know for sure that those could be fulfiled.
So, just one simple thing, I want my limits to be challenged, while a smile still is
present on my face. Not really simple, but I do smile a lot in the first place though!
The whole team has been working in a disjointed manner, with poor coordination
and communication, without the strict guidance from you. Two team members
have been involved in a conflict during their collaborative work, and you were
not aware of it timely to settle the conflict.
For the next one week, what will you do to address all the above issues and
ensure the project gets back on track?
(No more than 300 words)
1) I must say that I would never apply for a leading position in a project unless I
can manage it well in whatever case. I know it can be hard, but I can stay up
till 4 in the morning if necessary to complete my task.
2) However, bad luck is unpredictable. And, if that case of my family is really
so terrible that I let my team down, when I come back, I will organise a
meeting with all the team members and engage them in a self-reflection
session. I’ll admit my mistakes and irresponsibility, yet also point out for
them how poor their performance has been without my intervention. Resolve
the conflicts between the two members (if the conflict is mild, I will help
them reach mutual understanding and concensus, if it has escalated to more
serious stages, I may need to talk to them in person and understand in depth
each’s perspective, then I will decide whether to step further in or relocate
them to other sub-units. No matter what my choice is, I will make sure sooner
or later (after that specific project ends), they will reconcile- I know it can be
hard, but at least I will help them realise that it is of no use hating someone
who will work with you in the long run.
3) Our team together will revise the task requirements and devise another
timeline or redistribute tasks if necessary. This time, I will be fully committed
and offer them guidance or assistance whenever they need it. I will constantly
encourage them during the process and also organise more bonding activities
both online and offline.
4) In the worst case, if my family problem isn’t resolved yet, I may have to step
back and transfer the leading task to the most able and trusted member in our
present team. I know it may sound irresponsible, but family will always be
my priority. When I’m back, I will make sure to work more proactively to
compensate for all the troubles that I caused!
9/ Suppose that you are a member of a team and your teammate - Mike, has
underperformed these days. He is doing a part-time job as a waiter in a Coffee shop
four evenings per week because his family is facing adverse financial problems. As a
result, not only does his health deteriorate, but his performance at school as well as in
BEC also goes downhill.
You are the only one who knows his personal situation and he asked you not to tell
anyone. Meanwhile, your team leader is struggling to hold Mike accountable for the
team's common goal, but Mike has always used his incompetence as an excuse. He
has promised to change several times, however, there is no sign of improvement.
In this case, as a team member of this team, what would you do?

For optional questions, they will not be counted to your total marks, don’t worry.
However, BEC always encourages and treasures your experience so please do not
hesitate to show us.
1/ Do you have any experience with design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) or any
interest in creating visuals/ art in general? If the answer is yes, please include some of
your creative products (the output could be any types of artwork: visuals, drawings,
video, ...). Please include a link to your products (remember to open the access).
I do have some experience with design tools such as Canva or other simpler ones,
not with Photoshop or Illustrator. However, I do know how to draw by hand and I
am ready to learn all the new things on this subject. Recently, my drawing was
displayed by Kim Dong for the introduction of the Maruko comic in Vietnam.
