Introductory Message
Welcome to Media and Information Literacy!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the

Schools Division of Iloilo City and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas
through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is
developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible
adults) in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education
Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to

guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The Media & Information Literacy Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the
teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency
(MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner. This will
be made available to the learners with the references/links to ease the independent
learning.

For the learner:

The Media and Information Literacy Activity Sheet is developed to help

you continue learning even if you are not in school. This learning material provides
you with meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an
active learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the
activities and answer the assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on the
agreed schedule.

Creating a Campaign Ad to Combat Digital Divide, Addiction, and Bullying

I. Learning Competency (MELC)

Create a campaign Ad to combat digital divide, addiction, and bullying

II. Background Information for Learners

Twenty-first century requires 21st

century skills such as communication,
collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.
These are the skills learners need to
develop for success in school work and life.
Furthermore, these skills empower
students and media users to succeed in the
information age. Unfortunately,
demographically and regionally there is a
gap in accessing to modern information
and communications technology which
includes telephone, television, personal
computers and the net.

With the pressing problem that our world is facing right now, social media
plays a crucial role to either make or break a person. Schools, universities and
colleges are greatly affected by COVID 19. Face-to-face classes are temporarily
suspended to at least lessen the spread of the disease.

As a result, on-line and blended classes are

adopted. Though on-line classes are remotely
accessible, problems on digital divide,
computer addiction and cyber bullying arise.
Therefore, there is a need to address these
problems in order to sustain life learning skills.

Digital divide means lack of sufficient

technology or digital skills and ethical use of
media and information. Indeed, 21st century
learners need to combat these challenges.
