READING COMPREHENSION

WHO IS THE STRONGEST?

Once upon a time, there were three loveable friends namely, WIND, RAIN and SUN.

One day, Wind and Rain were arguing who were stronger. “I am stronger than you”, said the
Boastful Wind. “No, I am stronger and more powerful than you”, replied the Confident Rain. The
Timid Sun can only look at his two friends.
Suddenly a man wearing an old jacket was seen walking down a road. “In order to see who
is the strongest among us three, let us have a contest” said the Rain. “Whoever can remove the
man’s jacket wins” he added.
“I’ll go first” said the Wind. He blew a gust of cold wind at the man. The man shivers and zips
up his jacket.
“I’ll go next” said the Rain. He poured rain into the man, making his clothes wet and cold.
And he still wears his jacket on.
“I’ll try” said the Timid Sun. First, the sun shines enough to make the cold wind and wet rain
go away. Then he gently rays the man’s clothes to make it dry.
“Goodness, it’s hot! said the man. He begins to sweat and he felt it was summertime! So he
removes his jacket and lies down on the grass to take a nap.
“I win.” said the beaming Sun.

LESSON OF THE STORY:

Sometimes warmth and gentleness can achieve more than strength and force.
