CURTAIN WALL STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS
INTRODUCTION:
The following report contains the structural calculations for the STRIP CURTAIN WALL
for the PROPOSED AMAF HEADQUARTER BUILDING (2B+G+3FLRS+RF), PLOT NO.
2140909 @ AL GARHOUD, DUBAI ,This structural calculation is assessed as Per Bs 8118:
Part 1:1991. (Structural use of aluminum) with required support paper at latest of this
report. Maximum mullion reaction points are 3.7 m and span are 1.29 m. This
Calculations consider 3.7 m Height to be Maximum and Critical , hence this calculations
can be used for other Curtain Wall types and Similiar. GL 42 comes under Corner Areas.
GLASS DETAILS :
It consists of 6 mm outer glass + 16 mm air space + 6 mm inner pane.

ALUMINIUM PROPERTIES:
Density = 2710 kg/m3
Modulus of elasticity = 70000 N/mm2
Modulus of rigidity = 26600 N/mm2
Gained in wind engineering since that time. The design wind load is assessed as per
9
(3 sec gust)
(As per the Dubai Muncipality)
The basic 3 sec wind speed is converted to mean hourly wind speed.
10
Maximum Suction is 1.829 kpa for Zone A ( Corner Areas)
Maximum Suction is 1.288 kpa for Middle Areas.

Comments: Tension displacements are valid with half of the required installation torque moment for uncracked concrete! Shear displacements are valid
without friction between the concrete and the anchor plate! The gap due to the drilled hole and clearance hole tolerances are not included in this
calculation!
The acceptable anchor displacements depend on the fastened construction and must be defined by the designer!
7 Warnings
• The anchor design methods in PROFIS Anchor require rigid anchor plates per current regulations (ETAG 001/Annex C, EOTA TR029, etc.). This means load
re-distribution on the anchors due to elastic deformations of the anchor plate are not considered - the anchor plate is assumed to be sufficiently stiff, in
order not to be deformed when subjected to the design loading. PROFIS Anchor calculates the minimum required anchor plate thickness with FEM to
limit the stress of the anchor plate based on the assumptions explained above. The proof if the rigid anchor plate assumption is valid is not carried out by
PROFIS Anchor. Input data and results must be checked for agreement with the existing conditions and for plausibility!
• The accessory list in this report is for the information of the user only. In any case, the instructions for use provided with the product have to be followed
to ensure a proper installation.
• The design method fib (07/2011) assumes that no hole clearance between the anchors and the fixture is present. This can be achieved by filling the gap
with mortar of sufficient compressive strength (e.g. by using the HILTI Seismic/Filling set) or by other suitable means
• The compliance with current standards (e.g. EC3) is the responsibility of the user
• Checking the transfer of loads into the base material is required in accordance with fib (07/2011)!
• The characteristic bond resistances depend on the return period (service life in years): 50
Input data and results must be checked for agreement with the existing conditions and for plausibility!

6 Warnings
• Checking the transfer of loads into the base material is required in accordance with EN 1992-4, Annex A!
• The design is only valid if the clearance hole in the fixture is not larger than the value given in Table 6.1 of EN 1992-4! For larger diameters of the
clearance hole see section 6.2.2 of EN 1992-4!
• The accessory list in this report is for the information of the user only. In any case, the instructions for use provided with the product have to be followed
to ensure a proper installation.
• For the determination of the Psi_re,v (concrete edge failure) a concrete cover of the edge reinforcement c = 30 mm is assumed
• The characteristic bond resistances depend on the return period (service life in years): 50
