TYPE OF TASK: Dialogue


ROLES: Two classmates-university students
PURPOSE: Provide and request information about the different means of transportation in Medellín.
PROMPT: A friend who is from the Philippines has arrived to Medellín, he/she plans to stay in the city for a
month, so he/she wants to know more about the means of transportation there are in the city (transportation means,
velocity, price and comfort) to move around the city. The task requires the following aspects:
1. The task will be in pairs and you will be randomly assigned a classmate the same day the oral task is
programmed.
2. Provide detailed list of all the means of transportation there are in the city of Medellín.
3. Describe the means of transportation in terms of velocity, price, comfort, times and services)
4. Be prepared to ask and answer questions about the topic.
5. Time assigned: 3 minutes each pair.

Communication and content: understand and complete the task
assigned by providing information about means of transportation in a
city; communicate and send messages so the audience is left with no
questions.
Fluency: produce a cohesive discourse, the act of speaking in
understandable, ideas are linked with basic linear connectors, organize
the sentences in a logical discourse according to the level.
Vocabulary: use vocabulary about means of transportation (taxi, bus,
tram, etc.), location adverbs (on the corner, next to, there, etc.),
vocabulary related to the city and use a variety of words to make the
dialogue interesting.
Structure: produce the simple present structures, to be forms, plurals,
negative tense and auxiliaries, pronouns, prepositions of place; pose
and answer information questions and use other sentence structures to
make the dialogue interesting.
Pronunciation: pronounce and produce intonation patterns of basic
sounds that allow the audience to understand the message and
pronounce words without interfering with the message.
