DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE VI

I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Infer that the motion of an object is determine by forces acting on it.

2. Show obedience in following directions.
3. State that there are forces acting on an object

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

A. Topic: Force and Motion

B. Science Concept: Motion of an object is determined by force acting on it.
C. Science Processes: observing describing.
D. References: Science and Health 6, pp.261-263, PELC
E. Materials: toy car, marbles, chair, bag, glass, ruler.

III. INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURE:

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. Preparatory Activity
1. Prayer/ greetings
Let us all stand and pray …… amen!
It seems that you already for our new
Yes ma’am!
lesson today. Am I right children?

2. Science news
Class, have you heard the news about…
(the teacher will narrate the latest science
news)

3. Vocabulary Development
Class, I have here a jumbled letter. All you
have to do is to arrange the letters to form
a word using the decoders/ clues. Is that
clear class? Yes ma’am!
1. ROCFE- a strength or energy exerted
2. NITMOO- movement of an object
3. FIRTCOIN- occurs when two moving
object are in contact with each other. It
is the force that drags or pull back a
moving object.
B. Lesson Proper:
Presentation/ Motivation
Class, look at this object. Is it moving? No, ma’am.
What if push it? Will it move? Yes, ma’am!
No, ma’am!
What if I did not push the object, will it
move?

DISCUSSION
I have here a video presentation, I will discuss to you
what is force and motion. After that I will randomly
ask a question regarding to the video that you watch.
FORCE
- Is a push or pull upon an object resulting
from the object’s interaction with another
object that causes a change in speed,
direction, or shape
(the student will give their example)
Example:

Motion
- Is the phenomenon in which an object
changes its position. Change of location of an
object with respect to time.
- The process of something moving or
changing place, or even just changing
position.
Who want to give their Example:
(the student their give an example)
Learning Activity:

1. Activity

a. Presentation and preparation of

materials
Class, look at the table.
What can you see on it? Ma’am, a box.
Who wants to open the box and tell to
the class what have you seen inside it?
Ma’am, three toy car, marbles, glass,
ruler, and coins.

Excellent!

b. Orientation and Setting of Standards

Using these materials, you will have
your activity in this lesson. So class,
listen very carefully.
I will divide you into three groups. Each
group will be given an activity thus
every group will select their leader to
present your work.

Alright this time, I will group you into

three.
And you will have 10 mins. To finish
your activity.
So the group 1 will be working to this
side. Is that clear?

But before that what are the standards

to be remembered while we are having
group activity?
Ma’am, we must follow the directions,
cooperate with the group, listen to the
idea of others and be open minded.

Very good!
It only means that you are ready for
our new activity. All you have to do is
to perform the given activity for your
group. Am I understood?
Alright, you may start your activity
now.
Yes, ma’am!
c. Getting of materials
(the teacher will give the activity
materials as well as the activity card)
Now, kindly get your materials.
d. Performing the activity (pupils will get their materials)
(pupils will perform the activity based
on the enclosed activity card)

e. Reporting
Alright, each leader of the group will
present their findings in front.

2. Analysis (leader presents their findings)

Alright class, let us go back again with your
group activity
Upon putting the car and marbles on the
floor, did they move?
Why?

Ma’am they did not move, because there

Correct!
is no force pulling the car or marbles
Now, how are we going to make the car
and marbles move? Ma’am by pushing the car and the
Very good! marbles.
Upon pushing the chair. Did the chair
move?
What caused the chair move? Ma’am yes.

Ma’am the force causes the chair to

Why did the chair move? move.

Ma’am, because there is the force acting

on the chair.
Do we have to apply more force n pushing
the chair?
Why?

Ma’am yes, because the chair is big and

Correct! heavy.
What will happen if we increased the force
in pushing the chair?
Why?
Ma’am, the chair moves a little, because
the greater the force applied on the big
object would cause less movement.
Excellent!
Therefore, is the motion of an object
depends on the force used in moving it?
Ma’am, yes, because if we used greater
amount of force the greater the
Great answer! movement of the object.
The group three work on the ruler at the
top of the glass with equal and unequal
coins on both ends.
What happened when equal number of
coins were placed on the both ends of the
ruler?
Why? Ma’am the coin did not move, because
the forces are balanced.
Correct!
Was there motion when we placed
unequal number of coins on the both ends
of the ruler?
why did the coins move? Ma’am, yes there is.
Ma’am, because the coins are not
balanced.
Very good?
What happened to the unbalanced
Ma’am, the coins fall on the end of the
number of coins? ruler with more number of coins.

Very good!
Class, when you put the book in your hand
did it exert force? Ma’am, yes the book exerts a force on
our palm.
That’s correct!

3. Abstraction
Now when you put the cars on the floor
did it move?
Ma’am, no.
How about when you push the chair did it
move? Ma’am, yes.
What about the bag did it move when you
pulled it? Yes ma’am.
What will happen if we increased the force
in pushing the chair? Ma’am, the chair would move a little.
Very good!
What happened when equal number of
coins placed on the both ends of the ruler? Ma’am the coins did not move.
Was there motion when we placed
unequal numbers of coins on the both
Ma’am, yes there is.
ends of the ruler?
Alright!
Why did equal number of coins placed on
the end of ruler did not move while the
unequal number of coins move? Ma’am, because there is equal force on
the equal number of coins while in the
unequal number of coins the forces are
Excellent! not balanced.

4. Application
Alright class, is the force important to us?
Yes, ma’am
Very good!
Do you use your force in a good manner or
thing? Yes ma’am
In what way?
Ma’am, I push the door if an old woman
That’s good! can’t able to push it.
How about you?
Ma’am, I use force in pulling the water
well.
Great!
All of you know how to use correctly the
force to create motion that is beneficial to
us and others.

5. Assessment/ Evaluation
DIRECTION: Put / if you observed the sentence
and X if not on the blank provided before the
number.

1. the motion of an object depends on the force used

in moving.
2. Motion of an object is determined by the forces
applied on it.
3. When forces acting on an object are not balanced,
there is motion.
4. When forces acting on an object balanced, there is
motion.
5. An object will not move unless it is moved.
