LESSON 1: Developing ICT Content
for Specific Purposes

I. Most Essential Learning Competency


Creates an original or derivative ICT content to
effectively communicate a visual message in an
online environment related to specific professional
tracks (Academic Track)

At the end of the lesson, it is expected that you should be able to:

1. Use common productivity tools to create or develop ICT content


for use in specific professional tracks. (Letterhead/business card
designs (Business/ Academic) that are useful for your academic
and chosen career.)
2. Create an original or derivative ICT content to effectively
communicate or present data or information related to the
academic track (Business card designs (Business/ Academic).

II. CONTENT
What is a Business Card?
 A business card is a small, printed, usually credit- card-
sized paper card that holds your business details, such as
name, contact details and brand logo. It is considered as an
essential part of your branding and should act as a visual
extension of your brand design.

Steps in Making a Business Card Design Using Microsoft Word with a
Table.
1. Open, Microsoft Word. Choose File> New Blank Document to get
started.

2. Select your margins. Go to Page Layout Tab.

Then, click Margins and choose Narrow as default setting in order to


make more room to fit business cards onto the document.
3. Create a table. Click on the Insert Tab then Table to open a grid that
will appear on the screen. Hover your mouse two cells over and five
down to produce a 2x5 table. This layout allows you to print 10
business cards when you’re finished. You can do this by adjusting the
font, colors and shapes to reflect your style. Go to Format Tab and select
the kind of changes you want to use.

4. Adjust the alignment of the Table.


 Right- click on the table crosshair and choose Select
Properties.
 Click on Center to align the table.

 Click the Row Tab and check the Specify Height Box.

 Enter 2 for the Height and set the Height to Exactly.


 Click the Column Tab and check the Specify Width Box.
 Enter 3.5 for Preferred Width and click Measure next to
Measure In.

5. Review your Table. Right- click the crosshair and choose AutoFit to
prevent the shape of your business card from changing.

6. Add your information into the first table.


 It includes the company name, contact information (Telephone a
tagline of description as a powerful tool to remind your costumer
about who you are and what you are.
 You can insert a Logo to make an impression to your customers.
Go to Insert> Picture> From File… to insert your logo. Double
click on the image that you just inserted into your business card
or go to Format> Picture, then go to Layout Tab and select Behind
text or in front of Text (under Wrapping Style).
7. Check for errors in your information in the table.
8. Copy and paste your information into the tables and eliminate
borders and shading. Once you have checked your information, select
all text for business card and paste it into the corresponding cells. You’ll
have to do this individually for each cell you create.
Next, select None from the Borders and Shading Button, which will
remove borders from the edge of your business card after you print.

9. Print and cut your business card. Print your business card in a Letter
Size Bond Paper (8.5x11). Use a tool to cut your business cards
precisely.

Microsoft Word as the Productivity Tool and also using the said steps
