4. Course Synopsis: The course aims to introduce the basic principles and models of
communication as an academic and career pursuit. It provides a general understanding of the
meaning, process, function, development, and issues of communication as science and profession.
The course provides an understanding of the role of communication and mass media in
managing differences among individuals as well as within organisations.

5. SAF Elements: The course will educate students by introducing the basic principles of human
communication as well as to guide them on lessons on how to live together with others, by
applying the communication principles in their personal and professional life towards achieving
a sustainable society. A harmonious society could be achieved by promoting the elements of
learning to live together, by which this subject will help to increase students’ awareness of the
importance of living and communicating harmoniously with fellow human beings in different
contexts and settings.
