IT’S NOT ABOUT BEING RICH, IT’S ABOUT BEING SMART WITH YOUR MONEY

I always wondered what it feels like to have the ability to buy everything and experience
buying things right away without looking at their price. I grew up always getting reminded that I
need to budget my money because my source of income, which is my family is just a minimum
wage earner. Now that I’m a college student, I must manage my money properly. I trained myself
just to buy the things I needed and save my money for more important things. When my parents
give me my allowance, I’ll immediately create a budget list to manage it. Mostly it’s allotted for
my jeepney fare, food, savings, and other school-related expenses. And if it has an excess, that is
the only time I will buy the things I want but I rarely do it since I am not a materialistic person. It
is an advantage in my state because I only get to spend a huge amount of money if we’re talking
about books. But then it is also available online. The books I want to read are downloadable on
many sites which is why I don’t have to spend my money on buying them. It is also an advantage
to a person who knows how to save money because we know our priorities and setting aside our
whims is easy. My spending habits helped me be independent in making financial decisions such
as how I manage my money in a month. I tend to contemplate when I buy expensive things
because it is inevitable. Especially when I want to treat myself, I always keep myself reminded to
weigh things and also my situation when buying something that isn’t included in my budget.
Because of these instances, I became more responsible in handling my money and purchasing
decisions.
