CYBERFIRST ADVENTURERS COURSE – THURSDAY 26 OCTOBER – ADMIN

GENERAL

1. To assist with the ongoing development of cadets within Thames Valley Wing, the
Wing Training Team will be running a CyberFirst Adventurers course on Thursday
26 October 2023 at Shrivenham Defence Academy. Cadets from Dorset and Wilts,
and Bristol and Gloucestershire Wings are also invited to join this activity.

2. Depending on the course finish time, there may also be an opportunity to visit the
Tech Hub at Shrivenham Defence Academy.

EXECUTION
3. To participate in the course, the cadets must be enrolled.
4. Cadets will be taking part in the CyberFirst Adventurers Course, learning about the
internet and information security, with various activities that underpins learning. This
forms one module of the Bronze Cyber Award.
5. Any questions about a cadet’s eligibility for the course should be sent to the
undersigned before nomination.
6. The course has a training peak of 30 cadets.
7. This single day course will be run at Shrivenham Defence Academy. Cadets are
required to bring pens & paper in order to take notes. Cadets will also need to bring

their 3822 (if issued) or be able to show ID through MyRAFAC App. Laptops will
be provided.
8. Cadets should arrive at 0840hrs, to start the course at 0900hrs and the course is
expected to finish at 1630hrs.
9. Nominations will be accepted using Cadet Portal - nominations can still be made
until the course is full.
10. Directing Staff to arrive at Shrivenham Defence Academy by 0745hrs, to meet the
Shrivenham Defence Academy staff, and to set up the laptops for the course.

12. Post Activity Completion by Monday 30 October 2023.
COMMAND AND CONTROL
13. The undersigned will be responsible to OC TV Wing on all areas of discipline and
behaviour of all cadet personnel on the day. She can be contacted on
07881563913.
14. All CFAV are First Aid qualified and can carry out the duty if required.
15. Flt Lt Jefferiss is the liaison for the Shrivenham Defence Academy staff.
CONSENT FORM AND MEDICAL FORMS
16. Pease bring TG23 medical forms if required. If any accident/emergencies occur
during the course, the cadets parent/guardian is to be informed, and staff are to
arrange for the cadet to receive First Aid treatment, or transport to Accident and
Emergency at their nearest hospital.
CHARGES
17. There is no charge for this course.

ALLOWANCES

18. Travel claims & reimbursements via Accounts F4 and Accounts F1771 are to be
sent to respective Wg HQs. Staff are to consolidate transport wherever feasible.
Volunteer Allowance (VA) may be claimed by eligible staff.

MESSING

19. There is no messing available - cadets and staff are advised to have breakfast
prior to the course, and to bring with them enough food and drink for the day. Regular rest
breaks will be scheduled in throughout the day.

SMOKING

20. Cadets and CFAV are reminded that there is no smoking allowed during the
duration of this activity, including the use of e-cigarettes and vaping.

DRESS

21. Dress for uniform personnel will be No.2B / C. Civilian Instructors are to be
appropriately dressed in CI / Squadron Polo Shirts supplied to match the uniform code of
the day. Uniform for cadets will be No 2C (working blue).

SECURITY

22. Cadets and staff are to be reminded they need to bring ID - MOD90/ Driving
Licence/ 3822 or MyRAFAC App (with photo) with you in order to gain access to the
Academy, and remain vigilant.

23. Please ensure that any bags are labelled with Cadet name, telephone number and
Sqn number

24. Any security incidents must be reported to the MGR and to the Activity Commander.

SAFEGUARDING

25. Female cover is provided by Flt Lt Jefferiss / Sgt Salt.

26. A 1:10 Staff : Cadet ratio is to be in place at all times.

27. Duty staff are to remain in attendance until the last cadet has left with a
parent/guardian.

COVID-19

28. Any personnel with a high temperature (38 Degree+), persistent cough or loss or
smell and taste are not to attend the activity and remain at home in line with government
guidelines.

29. If you become unwell during the day with any of the above symptoms, you must
notify your activity I/C immediately.

30. Any confirmed cases following any courses must be reported to the course I/C at the
earliest opportunity so appropriate contact tracing can take place.

f. AED Information – an AED is located at the cross passage within Heaviside
Building.

g. Medical Centre -The Med Centre is on Ext 5552.

h. If the Activity Commander becomes incapacitated, WO Jefferiss will take over the
activity.

i. Reporting. Copies of MOD 492s will be available and will be completed within a timely
manner.

j. Ambulance Access. Ambulance Access to the unit is via one of the two guardrooms.
Access to the site for ERVs will be controlled by the guard force.

k. Medical Conditions. Medical conditions must be declared on SMS and on TG23 forms.
If the medical condition is going to impact on the individual during the weekend, they must
make this known to the activity I/C upon Arrival.

l. Climatic Injuries. A weather brief will be given at the 2 commencement of the activities
and the introduction brief will include details on climatic injuries. All participants are to be
aware of the impact of the weather throughout the day and make reasonable adjustments
through their dynamic Risk Assessment.

FIRE SAFETY

32. An arrival briefing will be given to all personnel detailing what to do in the event of a fire,
including muster points and the evacuation procedures in case of a fire..

TERRORIST THREAT LEVEL

33.The Terrorist Threat Level is Substantial.

34. Staff and cadets are to remain vigiiant, and report any suspicious activity at the first
opportunity.
