Thanksgiving day plan.

Prepare: Small candies, balloons,bigsheetsforpaper turkey, blindfolds,paper or big feather,


bluetac (or tape, or pins), feathers with the weight, turkey headband printout, color markers or
crayons, double sidedtape.

1. Opening PPT/video(around the world) (20 min: 9.00 to 9.20)


PPT and video can be prepared by Chinese in Chinese language for children to understand
concept of the festival better.
Kids after having breakfast go back to the classroom and get ready to start the class. Teacher
have Thanksgiving ppt introducing the holidaytothe kids. After the ppt class watch the video
about how holiday is celebrated around the world. Chinese teachers can discuss with the kids
what did they see or understand and give further explanation if needed.

2. Games (20 - 30 min: 9.35 to 10.05 Snack time from 10.05 to 10.20)
Kids are invited to participate in the games. Here is total of 3 games - each class can chose 2
games that they like.
Game 1:
Turkey Waddle (can be played in pairs)
Your kids can giggle through this funny race that requires a balloon in between each player's
legs. Players must make their way from point A to point B without touching the balloon or letting
it fall.
Game 2:
Pin the Feather on the Turkey. (played one by one)
You need a blindfold and a cutout feather for each participant, a roll of tape and a large
drawing of a turkey. Have each participant write their name on a feather, so everyone will know
where their feather landed. Hang the turkey picture on a suitable surface, blindfold the first
player, give a few spins, and let the fun begin!
Game 3:
Feather Toss. (can be played individually, in pairs or in groups)
Tape a weight to the end of a feather. For the weight, use a flat blunt nail to give stability to
the feather. Mark the floor and place a basket a few feet away. Have participants take turns
tossing the feathers into the basket. Keep score to determine the winning player.

3. Craft (35 min: 10.25 - 11.00 )


Teachers put tables in the middle of the classroom and divide children in the groups. One
group sits at one table. Print out Turkey headbands are given to the kids to color. Top and middle
classes after finishing coloring can cut and assemble headbands by themselves, baby class -
teachers help to cut and assemble. If there is time - Teachers can take pictures of kids in the
headbands individually.
4. Song (If there is time)
Kids learned the song together with the action. Teachers guide all the kids outside where also all
the kindergarten staff is standing. Kids sing the song and thank employees for their hard work.
Children can give little presents or candies to the teachers or their favorite person in the
kindergarten.
