Call to Order:

A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 L03 of the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce (UPRP) was
held in room MTC3 of the Ruth Fortuño Academic Building on August 21, 2023. The meeting convened
at 1:30, Professor LeCompte presiding and Natalie J Maldonado Santiago, secretary. All students attended
except: Luis A. Martinez and Eliezer A. Santiago.

Approval of Minutes:

Minutes of the August 16th, 2023 meeting were approved after corrections.

Matters Discussed:

1. Professor Le Compte welcomed the students and introduced the first activity of the class, which
was a creative free writing exercise. The prompt chosen for the exercise was: "What is your
all-time favorite scene from a movie". Following that, two students shared their thoughts on the
topic.
2. The agenda items under discussion encompassed the special assignments; the Trip Report and
the Progress Report. The Trip Report involves composing a formal summary of conference,
workshop, or webinar proceedings, providing an opportunity to apply technical document
composition knowledge.
The professor also emphasized the need for supporting evidence in the following manner:
a) Presentation of a certificate
b) Provision of an official copy of an attendance list
c) Written certification from a person with authority or in charge
3. The Progress Report constitutes an engagement aimed at contributing to the advancement of the
Atabey garden. As part of this initiative, students must actively participate for a minimum of
eight contact hours, organized into groups of three to four individuals. These groups were also
established during the class session.
4. The professor introduced the process of demonstrating graphic organizers with an assignment
on August 16th, 2023, emphasizing the importance of outlining, students were tasked with
creating a typed outline for a Venn diagram related to mouse traps, to be completed in pairs.
