ENGL 4021 L03 MINUTES
Meeting Date: August 26th, 2020

Call to Order:
A regular meeting of the Course ENGL 4021 L03 of the University of Puerto Rico at Ponce was held
remotely via Google Meets video conference on August 26th, 2020. The meeting convened at 1:30 p.m.,
Professor LeCompte presiding and Alondra A. Lugo Ruiz, secretary. All students attended except: Luis
De Jesus, Nancy Jordan, Sebastian Pellicier, and Luis Reyes.

Approval of Minutes:
Minutes of August 24th, 2020 meeting were approved as distributed to members after corrections.

Matters Discussed:
1. Professor Le Compte initiated the class by presenting the agenda of August 26th, 2020.

2. The students completed the free writing exercise, which was: “What cheers you up, without
fail?".

3. The professor gave an explanation of two of the technical document assignments. These are:
a) Trip Report
b) Portfolio

4. Le Compte discussed what cognates and false cognates are and gave examples.

5. The students presented their mouse traps to the professor.

6. The professor asked the students to write the “Characteristics of Effective Technical
Documents”.

7. Professor Le Compte gave the students six minutes to assemble the mouse trap and write
technical instructions for setting it up.

8. Le Compte explained the assignments for next week (August 31th, 2020), which consisted of:
a) Finish writing technical instructions for assembling the mouse trap.
b) Create a Venn Diagram of three circles and compare and contrast three types of mouse
traps.

Unfinished Business:
1. Professor Le Compte postponed the explanation of the technical document, Progress Report, to
a non-specified date.

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
