    The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord. It contains neurons and two main types of neuroglia - microglia and astrocytes in the brain and spinal cord grey matter, and oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells in the white matter. The brain is divided into the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brain stem. The spinal cord contains grey matter on the inside surrounded by white matter, and runs from the brain stem down the back.
