We have a field trip planned to Santa Rosa Pumpkin Patch from on October 18 th 11:15-3.
Please make sure to sign and return the permission slip. You are welcome to join us- please see
the cover letter with the permission slip.

It was great to get to meet with some of you last week for conferences. I will reach out
to reschedule with the rest of you. I truly appreciate your patience and flexibility.

We are still looking for parent support weekly. PE is Monday 12:40-1:30 and/or
Wednesday 12:40-1:30. If any of these time slots works for you and you are able to consistently
volunteer, please let me know.

If you were able to help our class with items from the Amazon Wish List, thank you! I
don’t always know who sent the items, but our class truly appreciates the support!

Did you know small practice times have big outcomes? The car can also be a great place
for this! See the section below for small, quick activities that can support your child’s learning
and are connected to what we are learning in class.

Practice at home or in the car!

-Skip count! By 2, 5, 10 (and then off 10 such as 13,23,33,43…)
-Continue to use the questions presented in Talking to your kids about books (also available on
the class website)
-Practice estimating! About how many minutes will it take us to drive to school? When I open
this bag of carrots, how many do you think will be inside? How many leaves do you think are on
that tree? It’s not about being right, it’s about improving.
-Check out MadLibs. They are a super fun way to encourage reading and solidify parts of
speech.

Questions to ask your child about what they learned in school:

-What is your Halloween book about? How are you thinking about illustrating your favorite
sentence?
-Why is 642 not the same as 246?
-How many ways can we make the number 24 with Base 10 blocks? (2 tens and 4 ones, 1 ten
and 14 ones, 24 ones)
