Statement of Purpose

Ever since I was introduced to the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI), I have been captivated by its
immense potential and its real-life applications. The ability of machines to learn, reason, and
problem-solve like humans is a fascinating concept that has motivated me to pursue a career as
an AI researcher. With a strong foundation in computer science and a genuine passion for
pushing the boundaries of technology, I am excited to embark on this journey of exploration and
innovation. My interest in AI was first sparked during my high school days. As I delved deeper
into the subject, I became increasingly fascinated by the possibilities and challenges that AI
presents.

The course which I have opted for is Machine Learning and I believe it has further fueled my
curiosity and motivated me to explore this field in greater depth. It was during this time that I
realised the potential of AI to revolutionise various industries, from healthcare to finance, and
even entertainment. My journey towards my first project in AI began with a strong academic
foundation, rigorous coursework and hands-on experience which provided me with the necessary
knowledge and skills to tackle complex problems in the field.

Additionally, I actively looked out for opportunities to supplement my learning through research
papers and online resources. This proactive approach not only broadened my understanding of
AI but also deepened my fascination with its real-life applications. One of the pivotal moment in
my journey was my internship at Brahmastra Aerospace and Defence, Chennai, India. During this
internship, I worked on a project focused on ‘Understanding Directivity in Yagi Uda Antennas.’
Through this project, I gained practical experience in applying AI techniques to analyse and
optimise antenna systems. The outcome of the project was a significant improvement in the
directivity of the antenna, resulting in enhanced signal reception and transmission. This
experience not only validated my interest in AI but also solidified my determination to pursue a
career in research and development.

Building on the knowledge and skills gained from my internship, I embarked on a summer
internship at California State University Long Beach, USA. As part of the STEM group
(Science,Technology, Engineering Mathematics), I had the opportunity to collaborate with a
diverse team of researchers and work on cutting-edge projects. This experience exposed me to
the cohesive nature of research and allowed me to contribute to the development of AI
algorithms for data analysis. Upon the successful completion of my internship, I was awarded a
certificate of achievement, which encouraged me to explore further in the field of AI.

At Kreative Robotics, I had the opportunity to work on various projects that integrated AI into
robotics systems. These projects not only honed my technical skills but also provided me with
valuable insights into the practical application of AI in the field of robotics. Furthermore, I
participated in inter-school events, such as sports competitions and debates, which not only
helped me develop leadership and communication skills but also fostered a well-rounded
personality.

When considering my future academic pursuits, Stony Brook University stands out as an ideal
choice. Its reputation as a highly reputable institution, particularly in the fields of business,
healthcare and engineering, aligns perfectly with my goals and aspirations. Furthermore, its
commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities and resources, including its various AI labs,
will undoubtedly provide me with the ideal environment to further enhance my skills and
knowledge in the field of AI.

In conclusion, my journey in the field of AI has been characterised by a deep fascination with its
potential and real-life applications. Through my projects, internships, and co-curricular activities, I
have cultivated a strong foundation in AI research and development. I am confident that the
University's Undergraduate program will provide me with the necessary education, resources,
and opportunities to further expand my knowledge and contribute meaningfully to the field of AI.
With my passion, dedication, and the support of this University, I am eager to embark on this
transformative journey towards becoming an AI researcher.
