"During a trip to Da Lat, I had a chance encounter that turned into a fascinating story.
While exploring the town, I met a foreigner whose name escapes me at the moment.
Striking up a conversation, I discovered they hailed from the U.S., and as we seemed
to have quite a few interests in common, I decided to exchange contact information to
continue our conversation later on.
As fate would have it, this individual moved to a house close to mine shortly
thereafter. To my surprise, I learned that they were a renowned chef from 'Masterchef
USA'. Not only did they possess a wealth of culinary knowledge, but they had also
penned two cookbooks which had been published to great acclaim.
But what truly struck me was their community spirit. They opened a small eatery in
our locality that offered an array of international dishes at affordable prices. This
venture not only provided employment opportunities for many in our community but
also gave us the unique chance to savor dishes from all over the world right in our
backyard."

One of the most memorable encounters I had earlier this year was with a foreign
footballer named [foreigner's name]. He originally hails from the US but became a
naturalized Vietnamese citizen back in [year]. I had the privilege to meet him at a
charity dinner in my neighborhood. This event was organized by a local football club
with the primary intention of raising funds to support underprivileged children. And
guess what? He was the main highlight of that evening!
 The party took place at [pl ace name], and the atmosphere was absolutely electric. Out
of sheer curiosity and a bit of courage, I approached him to strike up a conversation.
To my amazement, his fluency in Vietnamese was impeccable, which was indeed

influencing my decision to shift from my previous major in language to Mathematics.
When it comes to Math, it's a challenging subject that I've had to confront since

unwarranted criticisms and misconceptions about this discipline. I've heard from many
individuals and various sources that pursuing a degree in Mathematics can be
academically demanding and may offer limited job opportunities compared to other
fields. Thus, making this career shift was genuinely challenging for me. But when I was
completely uncertain about the decision - a 'yes' or 'no' dilemma - my close friend lent me
a book called 'Fermat’s Last Theorem' by Simon Singh. After reading it, everything
became clear. In reality, Mathematics isn't as daunting as it seems. In fact, it's truly
captivating and intriguing, especially with the real-world formulas and problems Simon
Singh presents. This made understanding it much easier. I finished the book in three
weeks and gradually became passionate about Mathematics. In the end, I mustered
enough courage and confidence to take a significant leap in my life. Fortunately, this

Sea, offering many breathtaking and untouched beaches.
In addition to its beautiful beaches, Da Nang is adorned with lush mountains that turn
it into a paradise for nature lovers. There's also a unique feature in the city known as
the Dragon Bridge, which adds to the city's enchantment and allure.
However, while many tourists might be captivated by these beaches, I find myself
most drawn to the APEC park. It serves as a serene oasis amid the city's hustle and
bustle. This park is beautifully decorated with green trees and distinct dome-like

appreciate the street music performances organized there. The park's tranquil

"Ever since I was young, there was this game that my 12-year-old cousin and I
used to play, and we still indulge in it occasionally. Even though it's physically
tiring, it never fails to bring immense satisfaction. We call it 'Treasure Hunt'.
I vividly recall one special occasion at my cousin, Tâm's place. She was
celebrating her 9th birthday, and it was honestly the most delightful party I've ever
attended. It took place on a warm summer afternoon. Since Tâm's house had a
spacious garden, it was transformed into a vibrant gathering spot for the party. The
ambiance was set with colorful balloons and ribbons with 'Happy Birthday'
written, making the venue come alive. Additionally, there was this long table filled
with mouth-watering delicacies like grilled meat, candies, cakes, etc. The
centerpiece was a beautifully decorated two-tier birthday cake.
But what made the party genuinely captivating was the plethora of entertainment
activities, and amongst them, the 'Treasure Hunt' stood out the most. Tâm, her
friends, and I teamed up for this game. We were given a map with clues leading us
to the hidden treasures in the vicinity. This made the game even more exhilarating
as we were racing against time, having just an hour to find the treasure, competing
with other teams.
The constant running around was indeed exhausting, but the sheer joy it brought
was unparalleled. Throughout the game, we cheered for each other, strategized our
moves, and shared countless laughs. It was a bonding experience, to say the least.
Looking back, those childhood memories of playing games with kids fill me with
nostalgia, making me yearn for those golden times."

I'd like to recount an incident that tested my composure and adaptability during a
public presentation.
Some time ago, I had the privilege of speaking to a knowledgeable group from my
sector. Therefore, I had poured hours into my PowerPoint, ensuring it was
comprehensive and engaging. But, as with life's unexpected turns, the moment I
was set to commence, my computer faltered. My slides were nowhere to be seen,
replaced by an error message on the computer screen.
The seconds felt like minutes. The room's silent anticipation was palpable, and my
initial reaction was panic. However, recognizing the importance of the moment, I
decided to push through. I began describing my talk's essence, relying solely on
memory, hoping to keep the audience's interest intact.
Fortunately, with a little assistance from a tech-savvy attendee, the issue was
rectified, and I proceeded, despite a littleslight delay. While it wasn't the smooth
start I had envisioned, it underscored an important lesson: Being able to adapt and
maintain composure, especially when things go awry, is just as crucial as the
content of the presentation itself.

Recently, a new complex has been constructed near my home, and it's truly
impressive in terms of amenities. The complex boasts a range of facilities from
swimming pools to restaurants, and a variety of shops like fashion boutiques,
bookstores, and coffee places. Last weekend, I decided to visit it with my best friend,
and we were genuinely captivated by its charm. Notably, there was an indoor art
gallery and an outdoor sculpture exhibit, which we assume would be a great attraction
for many tourists.
However, my friend and I might have underestimated its popularity as the place was
crowded, making it challenging for us to navigate and find specific spots on the
complex's map. A testament to its popularity was our attempt to try a renowned gelato.
After waiting for over two hours, we were informed that it was sold out. Following
that disappointment, we thought of buying some stationery gifts for a friend's birthday
from a cute store located right in the middle of the complex. To our dismay, by the
time we arrived, the shop looked like it had been raided with just a few stickers and
pens left.
The most awful experience was at a Thai restaurant in the complex. When our order

At the start of this year, during the Lunar New Year, also known as "Tết," my family
decided to drive to visit our grandparents. Speaking of Tết, it's the most significant
traditional festival in Vietnam, symbolizing family reunion. We covered a distance of
more than 200km from Bình Định to our grandparents' place in Quảng Nam. Along
the way, the green paddy fields sparkled under the sunlight, enhancing the beauty of
our journey.
This trip was not only a simple vacation during the festive season but also a returning
to our roots and bonding with close relatives. Throughout the drive, my sister and I
couldn't stop discussing the lucky money, which we eagerly anticipated receiving. We
reminisced about the amount we received in previous years and shared our plans on
how to spend it. The excitement and conversations made the journey feel shorter than
expected.
Tết in Vietnam involves the exchange of gifts, especially "lì xì", which is money
placed in red envelopes. As a child, I was always excited to wear my best traditional
custom “áo dài” and visit my relatives, anticipating the red envelopes. The thrill and
curiosity of not knowing how much we'd receive added to the excitement of the
journey.
Upon arriving at our relatives' house, a warm ambiance and the aroma of traditional
Tết dishes filled the air. After savoring the delicious meals, we'd wish the elders luck
and prosperity, and in return, they'd hand us the coveted red envelopes. The moment
of receiving these envelopes was always exhilarating and joyous. Not only about the
money but also a symbolize wishes for a prosperous year ahead.

So, there’s a lavish item that I’ve had my eye on for a long time since I first saw it in a
TV advertisement, and it’s something I would love to give to my parents and after 6
months of saving money, I finally afford to purchase it. I once came across an
advertisment of a robot vacuum while watching TV. I was immediately captivated by
its catchy music and relatable content. The ad shows a family having problems with
dirt and rubbish from their daily activities. And when everybody was tired of the
scene, a cleaning robot appeared to save the day. With cutting-edge technology, the
robot quickly cleaned up the house. “This equipment will be a reliable helper in the
daily life”, I mumbled.

robot vacuum last year. It is such a wise purchase as it saves me a lot of time and
effort to clean the house. To me, house cleaning is one of the most tiring household
chores, so I can say that this robot is my indispensable everyday gadget. And I think
not only me but many other people share the same opinion as these household robots
have gained significant popularity over the recent years. Living a busy lifestyle makes
it difficult to do all the housework after coming home from an exhausting working
day, thus the aid of cleaning robots and household robots in general is absolutely
useful.

In my school, there is a rule that every day, all the female students are required to wear
"áo dài," which is a traditional Vietnamese dress. This mandate stems from the principal's
belief that wearing traditional attire can express national pride and cultural appreciation.
Furthermore, my town often receives foreign visitors, and the school wants to showcase
the grace and elegance of Vietnamese women in their traditional attire. I personally find
this rule quite reasonable. As a proud Vietnamese citizen, I feel privileged to contribute in
a small way to promoting our national culture. Instead of wearing more westernized
uniforms, like tennis skirts and shirts, wearing the "áo dài" not only feels wonderful but
also accentuates my femininity and beauty.

Certainly. The most impressive work of art I’ve seen is Vincent van Gogh's "Starry
Night." I came across this painting during a visit to the Museum of Modern Art in
New York City.
"Starry Night" is truly an exquisite painting that captures the night sky in a swirling
fashion. The main features that grabbed my attention were the swirling patterns of the
stars and the moon in the dark blue sky. The vividness and movement of these
celestial elements contrasted sharply with the quiet town below, with its small
church steeple standing out.
What impressed me about this painting was its ability to convey emotion. The
turbulent air in the sky seems to reflect the artist's state of mind so it's like looking
not just at the night sky, but also peering into van Gogh's soul.
Seeing "Starry Night" made me feel a mixture of emotions. I felt a sense of wonder at

I’d like to talk about Nguyen Thi Anh Vien born in 1996, the pride of Vietnam sports,
one of the best Vietnamese swimmers in the history. I think hardly any sports fans
don’t know her as she constantly appear in news for her remarkable
achievements in swimming. She even hit the headlines of many international
media channels which indentify her as the phenomenon from Vietnam.
Especially in 2015, she showed an outstanding performance in SEA Games
28th when collecting 8 gold medals, 1 silver, 1 bronze and breaking 8 records.
These achievements shocked not only Vietnam but the whole ASEAN.
Exceptional as an althlete, she is a pretty simple and approachable woman in
the real life. Although I haven’t had a chance to meet her face-to-face, I have
watched numerous videos of her sharing about her daily life, and notably, her
thoughts on becoming a sports star at a very young age, which inspires me a
lot.
Watching her motivational journey, I find keen interest in sports since then to
the point that I have dreamt of becoming a sportsperson. The more I learn
about sports as a career, the more interesting I find it is. Unlike my initial
thought that a sportsperson just needed to be well-built, doing sports in fact
requires both physical and mental stamina. To claim victory is an arduous
journey as an athlete has to practice diligently, participate in competitions,
experience failures, learn to stand up again and keep practicing till they reach
the professional level. This challenge can provide you with great opportunities
for exposure and interaction and help you grow up fast.
They are also the reasons why I have seen a sharp increase in the number of
children practicing in sports center to pursue this career. Although I’m a little
bit old to kick off my sports career pursuit, I’m still into playing sports in my
daily basis, and I will have my future children experience sports at their young
age and let them follow this path if they like it.

Absolutely! One water sport that I've always been enamored with is windsurfing. I
remember the first time I saw it was on a travel show where they were exploring the

like they were dancing with the wind and water. The combination of surfing and
sailing in this sport is just so intriguing to me.
Whenever I see people windsurfing, I'm always struck by the balance and agility they
exhibit. They have to synchronize their movements with the changing direction of the
wind while also navigating the waves. It seems like such a liberating experience,
being propelled by nature's forces and having the vast ocean as your playground.
The aspect that excites me the most about trying windsurfing in the future is the
