Description
The value specified for Application under Program Definition | Application Options for stream 1
indicates that the stream is a single phase. If properties have been generated using Aspen Properties
Input Warning 1066
or BJAC, they are obtained for that single phase even if the package would have otherwise returned
properties for other phases.

The value specified for Application under Program Definition | Application Options for stream 2
indicates that the stream is a single phase. If properties have been generated using Aspen Properties
Input Warning 1066
or BJAC, they are obtained for that single phase even if the package would have otherwise returned
properties for other phases.

A default allocation of Hot stream 1: to the shellside has been made. It is estimated that the chances
of this being correct are about 55 percent. Potentially important factors, such as a fluid being
Input Warning 1062
hazardous, or having material compatibility problems, could not be allowed for. Such fluids would
usually go on the tubeside.

No Maximum Allowable Pressure Drop was specified for either stream. Estimated values of 0.193 kgf/
cm2 (hot side) and 0.51 kgf/cm2 (cold side) were used. Design results are usually very susceptible to
Input Warning 1063
at least one of these values, and the estimates may not match your process requirements. Treat the
exchanger designs produced with caution.

You did not input any fouling resistances. Fouling will reduce the calculated exchanger duty, or
Input Warning 1179
increase the exchanger size needed to achieve the specified duty.
Stream 2 has been identified as either a liquid or a vapor application, but Physical Properties data
Input Warning 1049
have only been supplied for the other phase.
For stream 2 at pressure 3 kgf/cm2, the specified temperature 30 C and quality 1 are inconsistent.
Note 1855
The quality has been reset to 0.
For stream 2 at pressure 2.868 kgf/cm2, the specified temperature 40 C and quality 1 are
Note 1855
inconsistent. The quality has been reset to 0.

The consolidated process conditions for Stream 1, prior to the main calculations, give a heat load of
Note 1860 -192225 kcal/h, for a flow of 20000 kg/h, with outlet temperature 60 C and quality (vapor mass
fraction) 1.

The consolidated process conditions for Stream 2, prior to the main calculations, give a heat load of
Note 1860 192225 kcal/h, for a flow of 19035 kg/h, with outlet temperature 40 C and quality (vapor mass
fraction) 0.

The calculated rho v squared of 2303 kg/(m*s2) within the shellside inlet nozzle exceeds the TEMA
Operation Warning 1341
recommended value of 2232 kg/(m*s2).
Advisory 1446 The Advanced calculation has converged after 23 iterations
Note 1701 Design calculation successfully completed.
Flow induced vibration analysis has identified problems: Fluid Elastic Instability: 5 warnings, of which
Operation Warning 1611
2 serious; Resonance Assessments: 11 warnings, of which 0 serious.

The HTFS and/or TEMA flow induced vibration analysis has identified the possibility of acoustic
Note 1615 resonance. You should consider using a deresonating plate, especially if there is resonance of the
vortex shedding or turbulent buffeting frequencies with both the acoustic and natural frequencies

One or more of the calculated shell side Rho-V-Squared values exceeds the TEMA limit. Please take
Operation Warning 1388
a look at the Flow Analysis page.

Description

The number of baffles 2 in a shellside flow path is small. Some of the assumptions in the Shell&Tube
Results Warning 1902
thermal model and temperature difference calculation are less valid than normal.

The ratio 1.468085 of an end space length to the baffle space is larger than normal. Shellside heat
transfer and pressure drop calculations may be less accurate than normal, especially if there is a

small number of baffles. Note that the fraction of the overall resistance to heat transfer due to the
shellside is 0.5909004.
