Operating Guidelines of Spelling Bee

1. Each participating section is entitled to have three (3) representatives for this

competition.

2. Representative will be given their own materials (cardboard, eraser and chalk) to use.

3. The competition has four levels of difficulty: easy, average, difficult and clincher.

4. The facilitators will provide a timer in each word to be spelled, but with the dependence

on the level of difficulty of the activity. In the easy level, only 10 seconds will be given,

12 seconds in the average level, and 15 seconds in the difficult level and in case of a tie,

tie breaker questions will be given until tie is broken in the clincher round.

5. The contestants must be agile in interpreting and writing the word, as well as in raising

the cardboard. If they happen to not raise the cardboard after the counting, they will not

get a score even if their answers are correct; and

6. Every correct word has its equivalent point/s depending on the level of difficulty.

7. Each team will spell the same word. The spelling bee moderator will read or pronounce

the word twice. Contestants will only spell the word after the spelling bee moderator

says” go”.

EASY- 1 Point per correct word

AVERAGE- 2 Points per correct
DIFFICULT- 3 Points per correct word

General Guidelines of Quiz Bee

I. SUBJECT COVERAGE
The scope of academic quiz covers: English subjects from grades 7 to 10 and all
English subjects in senior high school.

II. THE COMPETING SECTION

Each section is entitled to send one team composed of three (3) entrants.
The adviser will serve as a coach. The coach is also the team’s official
representative and the only authorized person to file a protest on behalf of the
entrants.

III. MECHANICS
1. Each team is provided with blackboard and chalk.
2. A place shall be designated for all the coaches.
3. The contestants are given three (3) trial questions for them to test before the
actual competition.
4. Questions shall be displayed on the projected screen.
5. There are four (4) rounds in this category namely: Easy, Average, Difficult
and Clincher.
6. The facilitators will provide a timer in each word to be spelled, but with the

dependence on the level of difficulty of the activity. In the easy round, only 10

seconds will be given, 12 seconds in the average round, and 15 seconds in the

difficult round.

7. In easy round (10) questions will be asked, (5) in average round, (5) four
difficult round and in case of a tie, tie breaker questions will be given until the
tie is broken in the clincher round.
8. Points are assigned for each question in every round:

9. Each team will answer the same questions. The quiz master will read the
questions twice. Contestants will only answer after the quiz master says “ go”.
