I. Introduction

The “InqPOP! Creator Community” published an article titled “Here’s Why

Vlogging is this Generation’s Newest Career Path” written by Willanicole Alexa Ngo
which was published on July 12, 2019. She seeks to explain why vlogging is such a
popular career choice for millennials. This article focuses on keeping up with social
media trends. And how people's creativity has been put to the test through their use of
various social media platforms over time. Vlogging, on the other hand, has proven to
be the most viable option.

II. Summary of the Article

According to Willanicole's article, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim
founded YouTube in 2005 as the most popular video-sharing website. Aspiring
YouTube vloggers were able to post their videos on a free platform, which
invigorated the platform's popularity. Despite the fact that it is available to anyone in
the world, it can only be accessed via a personal computer connected to the internet.
Vloggers were able to expand their content beyond the confines of their homes thanks
to the introduction of cell phones. Products and unboxing, as well as other vlog
genres like humor and beauty are popular with the current audience. Because of this,
vloggers are able to produce a wide variety of unique content.
To make production more affordable for vloggers and other content creators, she
included information on the tools they'll need, as well as an estimate of what they'll
cost. What a YouTube vlogger makes depends on how long people watch his or her
content and the amount of money he or she makes while they are watching it. In order
to enjoy the benefits of YouTube Red, also known as YouTube Premium, members
pay a monthly subscription fee. It is possible that vloggers will be paid directly to
mention or review a product. A YouTube Partner Program membership is also
required for Google AdSense marketing of a vlogger's content (YPP). In order to earn
money from advertisements, you need at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch
hours in the last year.
At the end of her article, Willanicole stated that the vlogging industry is showing
no signs of slowing down any time soon. A vlogger's success is largely a matter of
how well they market themselves. Anyone who aspires to be a successful vlogger has
to put in the time, effort, and consistency to get there.

III. Analysis and Evaluation

Overall, the writer, Willanicole Ngo, provided evidence to support her claims
that vlogging is the newest career path for this generation. She primarily focused on
the challenges that vloggers face while filming, as well as the money they make from
their vlogging efforts. She also gave a brief history of vlogging and how it came to
the Philippines, where many Filipinos, including Pamela Swing, Ranz and Niana, Wil
Dasovich, and others, earn a living from it. She used common language, the text is
well written, and the information is accurate to ensure that her readers understand her
point of view. Furthermore, credible sources back up her logical argument.

IV. Response

As a member of this generation and a graduating student, this article served as a

wake-up call for me. I can use her ideas, facts, and evidence to rethink and reevaluate
whether I want to continue on my current career path or take a risk and follow the
"new generation's career path." Although the writers' points are valid, I believe that
some careers can still stand out in this generation. It’s true that vlogging has many
advantages, but it also has disadvantages. Profitability in vlogging takes time because
you must create unique content for your followers and viewers. You should also take
care of your image because, as per the content creators I've been following for years,
when you do something wrong, the entire social media community will attack or
"cancel" you. They will also look into your past and use it to manipulate the public
against you.

V. Conclusion

In conclusion, vlogging has already become a viable career option for today's
generation. It's the best way to earn money and entertain others at the same time. The
idea that anyone can vlog and make a career out of it is pervasive, but few succeed in
making it their full-time job. I believe that in this generation some careers can still
make an impact. We are capable of achieving our goals if we put our faith in the
process and work diligently toward them. And lastly, if you truly want and love what
you do, you'll be successful in any career path that you choose.
