Teacher’s Activity
1. ROUTINE
A. Greetings!

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing fine. My name is teacher Regine, and welcome
to our English class. Are you ready to learn today? Great but first let’s sing a song. Are
you ready? Let’s go and let’s sing.

(The teacher will play a YouTube video)

All right, what a nice song, isn’t it? How about your class did you enjoy it? It’s nice to
hear.

What have you noticed in our board? There are what? All right very good, there are two
pictures. So, here we have a picture of a tree and a picture of a cake. All you must do is
list different words that describe the tree and the cake.

(Assuming that the students provide a list of different words.)

Tree
- Green
- Leafy
- Tall
- Big
- Sturdy
- Shady
- Brown
Cake
- Sweet
- Soft
- Delicious
- Yummy
- Fluffy
- Colorful
- Round

Class the words that you’ve provided are called ADJECTIVES (what do you call the words again?
Adjective, excellent. Adjectives are words that describe nouns or pronouns. It tells us about the noun
tree and a cake. For example, a big tree, a shady tree. Another example is a sweet cake, a delicious
cake. Did you get it? Very good, class.

So, how can you identify if the word is an adjective? Hmmm? First, an adjective comes often
BEFORE a noun.

For example, we have here,

A fat dog.

In the given example, what do you think the noun is? Yes, Mathena. All right the dog is the noun.
Now what is our adjective? It says here that an adjective comes before a noun. Our noun is dog
therefore our adjective is fat. Well, done, class. Okay, let's have another example.

A friendly neighbor.

In this example what is the noun? Yes, Kim. Great job Kim neighbor is the noun, and how about the
adjective all right the word friendly because it describes the noun neighbor.

The second is, that an adjective comes after a verb. Remember class that a verb is an action word.
Let’s look at the example. Can someone read it for me? Yes, Daniel. Thank you, Daniel, you can
now take your seat.

1. My bag is heavy.
What is the verb in the sentence? Very good, the verb is, and it is called the linking verb.
Since the adjective comes after a verb, therefore the adjective is heavy.

another example.

2. Her face became dark.

Here the verb is became and the adjective is dark. Very good.

Lastly, Adjectives also modify pronouns. What are our pronouns? We have, I, you, he, she, it, they.
Let’s look at the examples.
1. She is gorgeous.
Now when I ask you who is gorgeous, the answer is she, because gorgeous is the adjective
and it modifies the pronouns, she.

Another example

2. It is flavorful
Flavorful modifies the pronoun it. Now is it clear what an adjective is? All right good job
class.

Remember that adjectives also answer the following questions:

 What kind?
 Which one?
 How many?
 How much

Are you ready for our activity? Okay, that’s great. We have here a set of pictures and a sentence. All
you have to do is choose an adjective that describes the noun in the picture.

1. Which adjective would you choose to describe the noun in the sentence?

She is a very ___ dog.

Greedy easily obedient warm

2. Which adjective would you choose to describe the noun in the sentence?

The cat has a eyes.

Lonely wise dynamic green

Job well done class. Is it easier now for you to identify an adjective right? Very good, do you have
any questions regarding our topic today? None. Okay since you don’t have any questions, I’ll be the
one who will ask.

1. What do you think is the importance of an adjective? Yes, Gina. Thank you for your answer.
An adjective is important to provide clarity to your sentences and it adds further information
to specify the meaning of what you intend to communicate. It is easier for us to express our
thoughts to someone or something using an adjective to describe them. You can use good
words such as lovely, handsome, and pretty to praise someone

2. Do you think that we should be careful with our words?

Of course, You need to understand that words can make someone feel good or bad. That’s
why it is important to choose kind words when talking to someone. Because a simple word
can hurt someone’s feelings. You can use the adjective words that you learned today when
sharing your thoughts, ideas, and emotions about someone or something. Is that understood?
Okay well done class.

For your assignment. Choose any story that like from any book and list all the adjectives
used.

All right class. I hope that you have learned and enjoyed our lesson for today
