“Health teaching to the families from Barangay Bayanan, Baco, Oriental Mindoro” is a

project that utilizes the promotion of overall health within the community of barangay Bayanan
by starting with the parents in the family. Given that one of the core values of Community
Health Nursing is to be a Nurse Educator, it is our goal to educate/teach the community on how
the residents can maintain good hygiene and proper sanitation. This will also pave the way for
how the community will evade from different diseases. Exposure to such events will not only be
beneficial for the participants but will also be beneficial in enhancing the nursing students'
ability to lead, socialize, adapt and be professional. The health teaching that was conducted in
the barangay aimed to reduce community acquired illnesses and improve the safety of the
community, it also aimed to educate the locals regarding sanitation. Moreover, the program
includes activity that promotes sanitation especially on their body in terms of demonstrating
and making them act the proper/ basic personal hygiene in order for them to learn not just by
hearing it but by participation in the act itself. The health teaching also targeted the illustration
of excellent hygiene in good health. The project also aimed aims to give knowledge about the
illnesses that can be acquired way-out proper sanitation.
