Hello to all! I am writing this to inform everyone about the results of our usability testing for
How to Create Word Headers and Page Numbers. I would like to request approval for some
changes to the instructions manual after the tests we conducted. We were able to test the step-
by-step instructions on Tuesday, October 3rd and preform a peer review of the instruction on
October 12th and id like to change some details in the instructions such as font and spacing.

Summary
This past week I gathered 3 test subjects to try my step-by-step instruction on How to Create
Headers and page numbers. The test took roughly 4 minutes and as I hoped I did not have to
give any instructions of my own. Each subject was able to understand each instruction down the
line and apply the instructions to their own paper and the results were perfect. After the test
was conducted, I was able to create a list of review questions for the testers and the results
were most promising. Each tester informed me that my instructions were easy, organized, and
just straight forward. Although they did have some recommendations on how I can improve the
instructions. The subjects said I can add color and some images. The users also told me that it
would be beneficial to space out my instructions a little further. Thankfully the spacing was not
an interruption but for the testers and they just wanted to see the instructions improve.
Interestingly enough one tester said the instructions would not benefit from color and actually
make the instructions worse. I am pleased with the way the test went and the feedback from
those that took it.

Results

Users found that the instructions were very simple and straightforward. They all
three agreed that the font was fine but could be a bit bigger for those who
do not have the best vision. All steps were in the correct and proper order, all tips
provided under steps were helpful. As they completed the tasks, users expressed their thoughts
on what could change for the better.
 Users believe the instructions need to be spaced out further from each other so the
information is more organized.

 Users believed a little color and images would improve the instruction, but one user
thinks it would make it worse.

 Users believe the font should be slightly bigger.

Overall, the results were extremely pleasing.

Conclusion
In conclusion, we have taken the results from the test and peer review and modified our test.
This included spacing out the instruction so the subject can read the more clearly, haven’t
changed color due to some tester thinking it might hurt the test, and changing the font. The
subjects enjoyed the test and believe no further changes are needed.

Recommendations
We recommend the following change
• Space out instruction more for more clear reading

• Change font to clean it up

• Add headers
