Introduction
A pancake (or hotcake, griddlecake, or flapjack) is a flat cake, often thin and round,
prepared from a starch-based batter that may contain eggs, milk and butter and cooked
on a hot surface such as a griddle or frying pan, often frying with oil or butter (Jones, M.
2007).
While kwek-kwek and pancakes hail from distinct culinary traditions, they share
some interesting parallels. Both involve a batter coating, with kwek-kwek featuring a
deep-fried, orange-colored coating made from quail eggs, and pancakes showcasing a
lighter, fluffier batter made from a mixture of flour, eggs, milk, and baking powder. The
cooking methods also align, as both dishes are typically prepared through frying—
kwekkwek through deep-frying in hot oil and pancakes on a griddle or skillet. Despite
these similarities, they serve different culinary purposes. Kwek-kwek is a popular Filipino
street food, often enjoyed as a savory snack, while pancakes are a staple breakfast item
in many Western cultures, typically enjoyed with sweet toppings like syrup, fruits, or
chocolate chips. The size and presentation of the dishes also differ, with kwek-kwek being
bite-sized and served on skewers, and pancakes presented as a larger stack adorned
with various sweet toppings.
The business name K&P comes from our products, which are “Kwekchines”
(Kwek-kwek) and “Pankires” (Pancake), which are healthy versions of our favorite street
foods and snacks.

The logo signifies that eggs constitute the primary component of our product, also
featuring our brand name. Additionally, it incorporates a splash reminiscent of batter,
highlighting the commonality between our two products, both requiring the use of flour in
their preparation. Our brand colors center around orange and yellow, symbolizing the
traditional hues of kwek-kwek or tokneneng, as well as the balanced yellow-orange tone
of pancakes. Overall, the graphic embodies the unified ideas of our team members and
the compiled suggestions, seamlessly aligning with our
brand and product essence.
