Aim
1. The aim of this Supplementary Document is to provide additional detail and design
concepts to help inform the Contractor’s initial estimates in the design and construction services
relating to the construction of the gymnasium at Queen Elizabeth Barracks (QEB) prior to the
site visit planned for 31 Oct 23.

4. Contractors are requested to register their interest and attendance via email to
projects.fiji@defence.gov.au no later than 1400 on Monday 30 October 2023. Details will be
released by the Client no later than 1700 on the same day.
5. Receipt of Tenders. The preferred option for submission of Tender packages from the
Contractor is via Fiji Procurement Office’s eProcurement Portal. Submission may also be made
via email of PDF packages to projects.fiji@defence.gov.au
6. Enquiries / Requests for Further Information. Enquiries may be made via email to
projects.fiji@defence.gov.au though are also available to be posted through the eProcurement
Portal. RFIs which may affect the Tender submission for other Contractors will be published via
additional Supplementary Documents.
8. Outdoor gymnasium and multi-use court. This scope item is to cater for the
following activities and allow for flexible use by the End User.
a. Basketball
b. Volleyball (two preferred, one minimum)
c. Aerobics circuits
d. Weightlifting

9. The design may – but is not required to – utilise modern, removable floor tiling for the
basketball and volleyball courts, shown below in Figure 1.
10. For use as a weightlifting area, weight racks as shown in Figure 2 below are expected
to be utilised, with expected dimensions for racking being two sets of 1.2m x 7.3m. Rubber
flooring suitable for weight lifting, as shown in in Figure 3, is to cover a nominal area of two
sets of 3.6m x 9.7m.
11. Office space is to be open plan and cater for ten full-time staff, with a single person
office attached for the head of the office.

12. The rope tower is to allow for the climbing of ropes by military personnel. Nominally
the tower should cater for four ropes to be operated at once, with a height of 5m. The tower is to
be placed over an area where injury occurring from a fall from a 4m height is reduced (i.e. sand
or similar). Examples of rope towers used by militaries are shown in Figure 4 below.
