INTRODUCTION
This initial field experience lays the foundation for future professional
growth, allowing future educators to bridge the gap between theory and
practice. Moreover, the field study experience is not only about what occurs
within the confines of the classroom but extends to broader aspects of school
culture, collaboration with fellow educators, and understanding the
intricacies of student diversity. As participants navigate these happenings,
they gain valuable insights that serve as building blocks for their professional
development, shaping their evolving identity as educators and laying the
groundwork for future success in the field of teaching. The Field Study 1
journey isn't just a chapter in a textbook; it's a living, breathing narrative of

(PRE AND POST)
BELIEFS ON TEACHING AND LEARNING (PRE)
After the home, the school holds the second most significant influence
on students' behavior and potential for academic success. Classrooms serve
as the primary setting for learning and teaching activities, aiming to convey
the true essence of education to students.
On October 23, 2024, the day marked the commencement of our out-
campus observation as student teachers. The journey began with an early
start at 4:30 in the morning, as I prepared myself for the day ahead. By 6:50
AM, I arrived at San Isidro National High School, the venue of our out-campus
observation. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as my co-student
teachers, along with our OIC Education Program Head, were already present.
In total, 31 student teachers were assigned to various classes at the school.
The day kicked off with the flag-raising ceremony at 7:00 AM. Notably, student
teachers from St. Rita joined us during this sole mn event. Following the flag-
raising, there was an awarding of certificates for those who had participated
in the joint BSP and GSP jamboree held at Mambayaan Integrated School.
After the certificate ceremony, all student teachers were summoned to the
principal's office for important announcements. It was during this meeting
that I learned I was assigned to Mrs. Maribel A. Camano, a Grade 7
Mathematics teacher, as my cooperating teacher. Upon meeting our
cooperating teacher, Mrs. Camano, she briefed us on the day's plan and left
the class with a pre -prepared activity as she had a meeting to attend. Taking
advantage of this free time, we sought permission to roam around the campus
to familiarize ourselves with the environment. In the latter part of the morning,
we had a brief orientation session with Mrs. Camano. During this time, we
discussed our observation schedule and clarified queries related to our field
study books.
In the afternoon session, we moved to the St. Michael section for our
first subject in the afternoon. Here, our cooperating teacher dedicated the
entire two-hour period to a comprehensive review of the previous lessons in
the subject of ESP (Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao). This day's observation
provided a firsthand experience of the creativity and innovation employed by
educators in making learning not only informative but also enjoyable for their
students. The strategic game "Pera o Bayong" served as a testament to the
importance of incorporating interactive elements into the teaching process,
fostering a dynamic and participative learning environment.
October 26, 2023
Today marked the fifth day of our out-campus observation at San Isidro
National High School. The day unfolded with a mix of academic assessments,
unexpected health concerns, and a culminating afternoon activity. I arrived at
the school at 6:58 in the morning, ready for another day of engagement. Upon
reaching our assigned classroom, we immediately instructed the students to
clean their surroundings as part of the daily routine. The day held a unique
challenge as it was the second day of their examinations, scheduled to
commence at 8:00 in the morning. The students were visibly absorbed in
studying and reviewing for their tests, demonstrating their dedication to
academic excellence. However, a concerning moment arose when one student
began experiencing health issues. He complained of headaches and, shortly
after, fainted. Reacting promptly, our cooperating teacher rushed him to the
hospital due to difficulties in breathing. In her absence, we took on the
responsibility of facilitating the ongoing examinations. The wait for our
cooperating teacher's return was filled with worry, but our concerns subsided
when we received the reassuring news that the student was okay. The
examinations, which comprised the morning session, concluded as a half-day
activity.
Today marks the second week of our out-campus observation, and it's
the sixth day of our immersive experience at San Isidro National High School.
I arrived at the school gates promptly at 6:47 in the morning, ready for another
day of learning and engagement. Following our usual morning routine, we
directed the students to clean their classroom before the commencement of
the flag raising ceremony. The school grounds buzzed with activity as students
diligently prepared their learning environment. At exactly 7:15 in the morning,
the flag raising ceremony began. It was our duty to guide the students to their
assigned areas for the ceremony, fostering a sense of discipline and unity
among them. Post-flag raising, the principal addressed the students,
delivering essential announcements and reminders. A subsequent
announcement by Mr. Lou Brian Valerio signaled the upcoming taking of ID
pictures. Once the formalities concluded, students proceeded to their
designated classrooms for the day's lessons. In the first period, our
cooperating teacher distributed the test papers from the previous assessment.
Students earnestly evaluated their scores, a reflective exercise guided by our
CT. With the assessments behind them, our CT seamlessly transitioned into
the commencement of her second quarter lesson. The routine continued in
the second period as we moved to St. Vincent, where the same procedure of
test paper return and lesson initiation unfolded.
Today marks our seventh day of observation at San Isidro National High
School. I arrived at the school gates punctually at 6:58 in the morning, ready
to embark on another day of valuable experiences. Following our regular
morning routine, we directed the students to clean their classroom, fostering
a sense of responsibility among them. Since it was a Tuesday, our focus
shifted to answering our Field Study (FS) books. After giving instructions, we
retreated to our barracks to delve into the task at hand. Today held a unique
twist as the school was abuzz with excitement for the upcoming dance contest
called "Sayaw Galaw," a crucial part of their district meet. Some student
teachers from SPCMOI, including us, took on the role of assessors for the
dance performances. Our task involved evaluating everything from the props
to the makeup of the participants. One of our fellow student teachers took on
the important role of being the videographer for the dance presentation
contest. The entire morning was dedicated to meticulously assessing the
"Sayaw Galaw" dancers, ensuring a comprehensive video presentation
capturing every detail of their performance.
Today marked our eight day of observation at San Isidro National High
School, and the day unfolded with a mix of routine and unexpected events. I
arrived at the school promptly at 6:50 in the morning, ready for another day
of learning and engagement. As part of our usual morning routine, we
instructed the students to clean their classroom, instilling a sense of order
and responsibility. However, today took an unexpected turn when our
cooperating teacher decided to forego the regular class and instead allowed
the students to practice their dance routine. This decision aimed to familiarize
them with the steps and timing of the music for the upcoming dance contest.
Utilizing the entire morning, various subject teachers joined forces to facilitate
the dance practice. The atmosphere buzzed with energy as students dedicated
their time to perfecting their dance routine.
Today marked our ninth day of observation at San Isidro National High
School, bringing with it a continuation of our journey. I arrived at the school
gates promptly at 6:50 in the morning, prepared for another day of
engagement and activities. As per our routine, we instructed the students to
undertake the morning cleaning of their classroom, fostering a sense of
responsibility among them. With the classroom in order, we found a window
of opportunity during the morning's extensive vacant time to focus on
practicing their dance presentation for the upcoming contest. However, at
9:00 in the morning, an unexpected turn of events interrupted our practice
session—an earthquake drill. Responding to the simulated emergency, we
followed the prescribed safety measures. Once the drill concluded, we swiftly
returned to our primary focus—practicing the dance presentation for the
remainder of the morning.
Today marked our tenth day of observation at San Isidro National High
School, and the day brought a blend of routine tasks and unexpected
responsibilities. I arrived at the school punctually at 6:50 in the morning,
ready for another day of active participation. Following our customary
morning routine, we instructed the students to clean their classroom,
fostering a sense of order and shared responsibility. In their first period of
class, our cooperating teacher opted for a practice session for the students,
focusing on their upcoming activities. The second period brought a moment
of respite as our cooperating teacher allowed us to rest briefly. However, the
day took an unexpected turn when Mr. Lou Brian Valerio approached me. He
requested that I facilitate his class while he attended a meeting, providing
clear instructions on the tasks at hand. In Mr. Valerio's absence, I guided the
students through the provided answer sheets, which were to be followed by
an oral exam on the parts of the microscope. Facilitating the oral exam
required me to ensure a smooth and fair process for the students.
The entire afternoon was dedicated to our dance practice, aligning with
the ongoing preparations for the upcoming contest. The extensive practice
allowed the students to refine their performance, ensuring they were well-
prepared for the upcoming event. As the day drew to a close, the range of
responsibilities and unexpected tasks provided a valuable learning
experience. Balancing classroom facilitation, oral exams, and dance practice
showcased the dynamic nature of our roles as student teachers. The day's
events further underscored the importance of adaptability and effective
communication in navigating diverse responsibilities within the school setting.
November 13, 2023
Today marked the beginning of our third and final week of out-campus
observation at San Isidro National High School, and it was our eleventh day
in this immersive experience. The day unfolded with a mix of routines,
announcements, and a unique teaching responsibility. I arrived at the school
grounds at 6:40 in the morning, ready to engage in the day's activities.
Following our usual morning routine, we directed the students to clean their
classrooms, fostering a sense of order and responsibility. The day commenced
with the flag raising ceremony, beginning promptly at 7:15 AM. Guiding the
students to their designated areas, we witnessed a captivating performance as
the galaw dancers led the Sayaw Galaw Pilipinas Dance. Post-flag raising, Mrs.
Dagaang took the stage to announce and congratulate the students who
excelled and participated in the District Meet held on Saturday, November 11,
2023. Excitement filled the air as qualifiers for the national meet in basketball,
chess, billiards, table tennis, and badminton were also acknowledged. Another
announcement followed, as Mrs. Ilajas shared details about the opening of the
National Reading Month, carrying the theme "Pagbasa Pag-asa ng Matatag na
Kinabukasan." With these announcements concluded, students proceeded to
their designated classrooms. However, our cooperating teacher, having an
urgent commitment, was unable to attend school. In her absence, we were
entrusted with the responsibility of teaching the students a new topic in
math—customary units of length. Throughout the morning, we delved into
this topic in various sections, namely St. Lorenzo Ruiz, St. Vincent, St.
Raphael, and St. Michael.
In the afternoon, our focus shifted to dance practice, aligning with the
ongoing preparations for an upcoming performance. The practice sessions
allowed the students to refine their dance routines and improve
synchronization, contributing to their overall preparedness for the upcoming
event. As the day drew to a close, the dual emphasis on academic assessments
and extracurricular preparations highlighted the multifaceted nature of our
out-campus observation experience. The day's events showcased the students'
dedication to both academic excellence and artistic expression, offering a
comprehensive view of the vibrant and dynamic school environment.
November 15, 2023
Today marked the culmination of our third week and the final day of
our out-campus observation at San Isidro National High School. It was a day
filled with both formal programs and heartfelt surprises. I arrived at school at
7:00 in the morning, prepared for the day's events. Upon my arrival, I noticed
some parents already gathering at the venue, eagerly anticipating the
commencement of the program. Meanwhile, the students remained in their
classrooms. The day kicked off with the State of the School's Address, setting
the tone for the proceedings. As student teachers, our role included facilitating
parents to the attendance area, ensuring a smooth flow for the program to
unfold. Once the program began, we were instructed to stay with the students
inside the classrooms while the events commenced. To keep them settled, I
decided to let them watch a movie, creating a quiet and focused atmosphere
during the program. The successful conclusion of the program marke d the
beginning of lunchtime for the students.
Arriving at San Isidro National High School at 6:50 AM, the atmosphere
was already buzzing with excitement as fellow student teachers and our OIC
Education Program Head gathered. The flag-raising ceremony at 7:00 AM set
a solemn tone, and the presence of student teachers from St. Rita added a
sense of community to the event. The subsequent awarding of certificates for
the joint BSP and GSP jamboree highlighted the collaborative spirit among the
student teachers.
The pivotal moment came during the meeting in the principal's office, where I
discovered I would be working with Mrs. Maribel A. Camano, a Grade 7
Mathematics teacher. The initial briefing with Mrs. Camano provided a
glimpse into the day's plan, and the pre-prepared activity allowed us to explore
the campus, getting acquainted with the school environment.
The day commenced with a sense of order as students settled i nto their
classrooms at 7:29 AM, but what followed was a moment of unexpected
serenity. The entire class participated in a Holy Rosary prayer, setting a
spiritual tone that transcended the conventional classroom experience. This
unexpected interlude highlighted the importance of fostering a holistic
learning environment that goes beyond academic pursuits.
Today's experience at San Isidro National High School has been both
challenging and illuminating. As we wrapped up the fifth day of our out -
campus observation, it became evident that the role of a student teacher is
multifaceted, requiring adaptability and quick decision-making.
The anxiety that accompanied the student's health scare was palpable,
underscoring the emotional investment that comes with being involved in
students' lives. The relief upon learning that the student was okay reinforced
the importance of not only academic success but also the well-being of each
student
Despite the challenges, the day unfolded with a sense of purpose and
continuity. Transitioning from the morning examinations to the aft ernoon
culmination activities reflected the dynamic nature of a teacher's
responsibilities. Balancing administrative tasks, such as checking test papers,
with active participation in school activities showcased the need for versatility
in our roles.
Overall, the day painted a dynamic picture of San Isidro National High
School's daily operations. From the academic rigors of assessments to the
creative energy invested in extracurricular activities, the school pulsated with
life. Each event, from the routine to the unexpected, contributed to a holistic
understanding of the educational landscape. As we move forward in our out -
campus observation, these experiences will undoubtedly shape our
perspectives on education, teaching, and the profound impact of a well-
rounded approach to student development.
November 7, 2023
The focus of the day shifted with the turn of Tuesday, as we delved into
our Field Study (FS) books. The intellectual engagement of answering the FS
books became a collective endeavor as we retreated to our barracks. However,
the day took an unexpected turn with the school's palpable excitement for the
"Sayaw Galaw" dance contest, an integral part of their district meet.
However, the day swiftly took an unexpected turn when our cooperating
teacher decided to deviate from the regular class schedule. Instead, she
allowed the students to immerse themselves in a dance routine, a decision
aimed at preparing them for an upcoming dance contest. This impromptu
change not only showcased the flexibility required in our roles but also
revealed the collaborative spirit among subject teachers, who united to
facilitate the dance practice. The energy in the room was palpable as students
dedicated their time to perfecting their dance routine.
The day's events took a more serious turn with the recurrence of the
student's health issue. The decision not to allow him to participate in the
upcoming dance contest, made in consideration of his well -being, added a
layer of emotional weight to the day. As we waited for our cooperating teacher's
return, we couldn't help but reflect on the unpredictability inherent in our
roles. The sudden shift from routine to the unforeseen underscored the
importance of adaptability in navigating challenges and unforeseen
circumstances.
The day began with a familiar routine of engaging the students in the
morning cleaning of their classroom, instilling a sense of responsibility among
them. This consistent practice sets the tone for a productive day. However, at
9:00 in the morning, an unforeseen earthquake drill disrupted our planned
dance practice session. This unexpected turn of events required us to swiftly
shift our focus to ensuring the safety of the students, showcasing the need for
flexibility in the face of unforeseen circumstances.
The morning commenced with our routine tasks, emphasi zing the
significance of shared responsibility. Instructing the students to tidy their
classroom not only instilled a sense of order but also underscored the
importance of collective efforts in maintaining a conducive learning
environment. The subsequent practice session in the first period allowed us
to engage actively with the students, focusing on their upcoming activities.
Unexpectedly, the day took a different trajectory when Mr. Lou Brian
Valerio entrusted me with facilitating his class during his abs ence. This
unanticipated responsibility required quick thinking and effective
communication to ensure a smooth transition. Guiding the students through
an oral exam on the parts of the microscope demanded not only knowledge
but also a fair and considerate approach.
The day kicked off with a sense of purpose, starting with the routine of
directing students to clean their classrooms. This simple act not only instills
a sense of order but also imparts a valuable lesson in responsibility. The
subsequent flag raising ceremony, accompanied by the captivating
performance of the Sayaw Galaw Pilipinas Dance, underlined the rich cultural
tapestry woven into the daily fabric of the school.
Today's experience at San Isidro National High School during our third
week in the out-campus observation program was a testament to the
multifaceted nature of education. As we reached our twelfth day of
observation, the day unfolded with a seamless blend of academic assessments
and preparations for extracurricular activities.
The academic aspect of our day took center stage during the
mathematics class observation. The decision to assess the students'
understanding through a quiz showcased a practical approach to gauging
their comprehension of the recently covered material. It was inspiring to
witness the students' earnest engagement in the assessments, demonstrating
their grasp of the subject matter.
Today's experience at San Isidro National High School during our out -
campus observation program has left me with a profound appreciation for the
multifaceted responsibilities that come with being a student teacher. As we
marked the continuation of our third week, the day unfolded with a primary
focus on dance preparation and event arrangements. It was our fourteenth
day, and the sheer dedication and enthusiasm displayed by both the students
and ourselves highlighted the dynamic nature of our role.
As the sun set on the final day of our out-campus observation at San
Isidro National High School, I found myself immersed in a reflection of the
day's events. Today wasn't just a culmination of our third week; it was a
tapestry woven with threads of formal programs, unexpected gestures, and
heartfelt connections.
