1. Verb た form
Verb ない form ほう が いい です
• Go to the Hospital.

1. やけど を したん です。
I got burned.
すぐ ひやした ほう が いい です。
You should cool it down immediately.
2. あし に けが を したん です。
I injured my leg.
4. はやく ねた ほう が いい です。
It is better to sleep early.
Note :
Since it is advice (should do/better to do), it might sound
imposing. To soften it, we can add “ね“ or ”と おもいます
“ at the end.
A more subtle way of giving advice is to use pattern Verb た
form ら いい です which we have seen in L26.

びょういん へ いったら いいです。
It is better to go to the hospital.

1. 明日 雨 が ふります。
It will rain tomorrow.
明日 雨 が ふる でしょう。
It will probably rain tomorrow.
2. 明日 は はれる でしょう。
It will probably be clear sky tomorrow.
3. 明日 の 朝 は かぜ が つよい でしょう。
The wind will probably be strong tomorrow.
5. たなか さん は 今日 うち に いる でしょうか。
Will Tanaka san will be at home today?
いいえ、日曜日 は いつも つり に いって いますから、たぶん
いない でしょう。

6. かれ は しあい に でる でしょうか。

4. Verb ましょう:
• Other than let’s do, shall we do, ましょう is also used when
offering one’s service. So, if we want to say “let me”
Without involving the listener, this expression can be used.
2. わたし が かれ に はなしましょう。
Let me talk to him.
4. わたしたち が てつだいましょう。
We will help you.

5. Quantifier で:
1. かれ は 二日 で しごと を かんりょうしました。
He finished the job in 2 days.

Note : When で marks time, it indicates the duration taken for
something to be completed.
3. はるやすみ は 五月 十日 で おわります。
Spring break ends on May 10.
4. N4 の じゅぎょう は 六月 で おわります。
N4 class ends in June.
Note : It can also be used to indicate the time when something ends.
5. この 本 を 五百円 で 買いました。
I bought this book for 500 Yen.
7. この りんご は 四つ で 二百円。
These apples are 200 yen for 4.
