Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of changes that

materials undergo when exposed to certain conditions.

Performance The learners should be able to evaluate whether changes in

Standard materials are useful or harmful to ones environment.

I. Learning Describe changes in solid materials when they are bent,

2. Review What is solid?

Solids
• The solid state is one of the fundamental states of matter.
• Solids differ from liquids and gases by the characteristic of
rigidity.
• The molecules of solids are tightly packed because of
strong intermolecular forces.

3. Motivation Exercise time!

• When you bend your body, was there a change that took
place?
• What took place when you bend your body?

l Activities
1. Activity Group Activity

1. Each group will be provided with different materials to be

bend.
2. Bend each of the given materials and observe what
happened
3. Describe what changes in solid materials when they are
bend by checking the appropriate box.

2. Analysis • Ask the group presenters to present their output.

• Demonstrate the changes of solid materials when bent.

Guided questions
• What are the changes of solid materials when bent?
Was there new materials formed?
• Which material will not break even when it is bent to
much?
• Which materials return to its original shape after bending?

3. Abstraction The teacher will hold solid materials

• A solid can be bent. When bent, these materials may

change their size and shape. No new material is formed
only the physical appearance of the material is changed

• We can also bend our body, but we have to be careful

when bending our body, it might harm us.
4. Application Group Activity Box stop game!

Play a music, there is a box wherein it contains solid materials

that can bent it will be pass to each groups, and when the music
stops the groups who has the box will get one object and
demonstrate to the class what are the changes of such material
when bent.

While the first group presented in front, the other groups will also
note and write a reflection about what they have observe
