In relation to this, the topic shall be known as the Philippine Teachers Professionalization
Act of 1994. This is an act to strengthen the regulation and supervision of the practice of
teaching in the Philippines and prescribing a licensure examination for teachers and for other
purposes. Based on my general understanding these are the implemented rules and regulations
given by the Professional Regulation Commission on teachers, it includes here the issuance of
professional credentials that the teachers need to get and undergo. This topic also tackles about
the one way ticket to become a registered professional teacher which is a board exam or also
known as a Licensure Examination for Teachers. Given that, there are lot of regulations that
needs to be followed accordingly to maintain the proper practice of professionalism of the
teachers in our country. As I dive into this material I have learned and realized a lot of things, to
summarize the important and significant informations let us start with the board for professional
teachers. In that phase, I learned that the board consist of five professional individuals those are
the chairman, vice chairman, and one member can hold the office as their terms for three (3)
years while the one member can serve only one (1) year; and one member can hold the office for
two (2) years. There are also prescribed qualifications before the appointed members of the
board became an official part of this. The President of the Philippines alone can appoint them to
their respected jobs. Once those board members are qualified, they have duties and
responsibilities as well to play such as investigating, supervising, and monitoring all the
activities involved such as the application, registration, and in examination day. While on the
other hand, the examination and registration talks about its proper validity before taking the
exam, it is said that, before it happens the registrant must undergo to a written examination
which shall be given at least once a year. In this view, there are also implemented qualifications
for all the registrants before taking the examination such as an official citizen of the Philippines,
a given age, and in good health. In this part it also tackles the category of examination items of
elementary and secondary teachers, for elementary they only have to take the professional and
general education, however for the secondary level they have to take up the professional, general
education, and their field of specialization. I also learned that before he/she will practice as
professional teacher he needs to take an oath. It also part of this article that in order to maintain
the development of professionalism he/she must undergo to a merit examination which will
happen once in five (5) years. If the teacher failed the examination he/she will be given two (2)
chances, and if she failed with that the teacher needs to take a DECS accredited refresher course.
And lastly, there are given circumstances and consequences of the teachers violated all the
implemented rules and regulations. Fines and imprisonment and even withdrawal of the licence
will be imposed. And lastly, the provisions relative to the practice of the teaching profession
were thoroughly discussed in article four (4). In this part they imposed all the consequences if
any teachers violated against the practice of the teaching profession. Some examples of those
violations are the person who gives any false or fraudulent evidence of any kind to the Board or
any member thereof in obtaining a certificate of registration as teacher or any person who uses s
revoked or suspended certificate of registration. The penalty of fines or imprisonment or both, as
provided in this section, shall also apply to any school official who shall cause or be responsible
for the commission of any of the above-enumerated acts. One of my takeaways from the case
that I can relate the most, is the board examination, I always feared the day when I finally take
the Licensure Examination for Teachers because in these days, I still have not a strong
foundation in believing myself. Fortunately, I always encourage myself that I will outgrow and
overcome it. I am taking this course so I must stand strong and build a well-founded faith in
myself one way or another. While studying the topic, what make this so frustrating for me is that
there are some educational terms that I am not familiar yet, so I have to browse my dictionary
and it takes a lot of time and it certainly prolong my reading routine of the given topic. Another,
is the Republic Act no.’s I know that it is not necessary to memorize them but given the fact that
I am to be a teacher I have to inherit and be familiar with all those. As a future teacher, I will
hardly believe that this could be of any help, as usual this will be my guide, and my awareness
for the coming days. This will be my aid of my ignorance era for sure. This topic will help me to
avoid the coming situations in the field of teaching profession gives me an idea of the possible
consequences if I violate all those implemented rules and regulations. And lastly, this topic will
hone me to how to maintain the spirit of professionalism, because, people nowadays thinks that
once they passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers there are no more grudges to be
followed wherein fact this is way more possible.
As a conclusion, my heart would gladly recommend this professional reading material to
the future pre-service teacher for this could contribute a lot. Based on my takeaways it involves
my insight about the board exam, well, the scope will not stay in that point forever, for sure you
will take all these once you read the whole thing. My takeaways may not be convincing but it
helps a lot as a pre-service and future teachers. The reason why I include recommend this, for
instance you are not that aware of the regulations, at least this might help to anyone of you. For
the last time, I just want to say that you need to prepare for the coming days; we must be vigilant
at all times. Being vigilant does not only mean a physical accident but it invades our mental,
social, and emotional aspects especially that this case involves failure and defeat. This is further
