5.4 EXECUTION OF DEMOLITION WORKS

Given the different structures to be demolished (concrete and metal), the technologies differ
respectively:
1)- mechanized demolition of buildings with concrete structure and load-bearing masonry

2)- mechanized demolition of buildings with metal structure (hall type)

General

Demolition will start with the areas from the boundary to the central area.

For these buildings we use specially designed protection systems, which are designed to protect
the remaining area of the building that is being demolished, namely modular panels (closed metal
structure with wooden planks). The stages will run according to the following algorithm:

- informing neighbours of the demolition stages at the property boundary, including the calendar
dates for the start and completion of demolition;

- taking all dust and shock protection measures by preparing the work area, installing water
cannons and dust nets (crane installation of protection systems for metal and wooden panels,
including dust nets);

- water cannon start to reduce dust emissions;

- evacuation of personnel involved in the installation of crane-supported protection systems;
- demolition will start from the top down, one bay at a time from the high risk areas to the safer
areas (towards the centre of the building);

- mechanized removal of rubble resulting from demolition;

- dismantling of crane supported protection systems
5.4.1 DEMOLITION TECHNOLOGY FOR BUILDINGS WITH CONCRETE OR LOAD-
BEARING MASONRY STRUCTURE
Since the area with the buildings to be demolished is located at a relatively large
distance from other objectives, the mechanised demolition method can be used. This
solution requires taking all measures to limit shocks and vibrations in order to protect
neighbours.
Demolition is carried out from top to bottom, using large excavators equipped with
hydraulic shears.
The use of the mechanised demolition method reduces the risk of accidents, as the
personnel involved in the execution of the work is reduced to only machine operators.

5.4.2 BUILDINGS WITH A HEIGHT OF GF OR GF+1, WITH A.B. FRAMES OR WITH LOAD-
BEARING MASONRY
Liebher 934R 35-tonne, Liebherr 944R 45-tonne and Liebherr 954 R 70- and 86-tonne high-
capacity excavators equipped with hydraulic drills and hydraulic hammers can be used for this
type of building. The demolition procedure is as follows:
1)- start with the demolition of the roof by cutting with hydraulic shears and mounted on the
excavator;
2)- demolition will continue from top to bottom with the excavator equipped with hydraulic shears,
on each beam, starting from one end of the building to the opposite side in the following
sequence:
a)- demolition of the floor slab and beams above the first floor;
b)- demolition of the exterior walls on the first floor and the interior walls on the first floor, on the
respective bay;
c)- cutting the first floor columns;
d)- demolition of the floor slab and beams above the ground floor, on the beam where the first
floor was demolished;
e)- demolition of the resistance structure on the ground floor by cutting the concrete columns;
f)-if the structure is on load-bearing masonry, the walls will be cut, on each beam, from top to
bottom;
g)-if loading into vehicles is carried out with scissors, then this activity shall be carried out
alternately with demolition in order to avoid the work area being cluttered with rubble;
h)-for buildings with basement, after the roof demolition, the basement slab shall be broken and
filled with rubble for later excavator access. For this purpose a slot will be created in the floor
slabs, from top to basement, through which the debris from the upper floors will be pushed so as
to fill the basement.

5.4.3. ABOVE GROUND DEMOLITION TECHNOLOGY FOR METAL STRUCTURE

BUILDINGS (METAL HALLS)
The following activities will be carried out before the demolition works start:
-securing the perimeter of the site (demarcation of the work area) where the demolition work is to
be carried out with dust nets;
-risk assessment of demolition activities for each stage;
-implementation of measures to eliminate/reduce the risks to which people involved in demolition
activities are subject, such as working at height, dust, use of oxy-acetylene flame cutting
systems, handling loads with cranes etc.;
-training specific to the location where the company's staff is going to work with the restrictions in
the area and implicitly with the activities to be carried out;
-reviewing each worker on the material presented on the restrictions and tasks they are to
perform in the new location;
-organisation by workshops according to training and activities;
-checking protective equipment;
-preventing accidents at work is the most important goal in demolition. In order to prevent
accidents at work, the subcontractor will implement new technologies based on new, high-
performance machinery for demolition at height, which eliminates direct human intervention in the
demolition work. All demolitions up to +28 m are carried out mechanically, with large excavators
equipped with hydraulic drills.
- In order to reduce dust emissions, special systems will be used consisting of water cannons
and the protection of the area through the use of protective nets will be needed.
-wind speed check - is constantly checked by the site foreman (cranes are allowed to work with a
maximum wind speed of 9 m/s;
For this type of buildings, Liebher 934R 35-tonne, Liebherr 944R 45-tonne and Liebherr 954 R
70- and 86-tonne high-capacity excavators equipped with hydraulic drills and hydraulic hammers
can be used, the demolition procedure is as follows:
1) demolition of the roof by cutting with hydraulic shears mounted on the excavator;
2) demolition will continue from top to bottom, in one span, starting from the high-risk areas, i.e.
from the ends of the halls towards the centre;
3) demolition of the resistance structure of the halls by cutting the beams and the metal poles
with the excavator equipped with hydraulic shears from top to bottom;
4) demolition of the metal planks on each beam from top to bottom;
5) on the areas with walls, they will be cut on a beam, from top to bottom;
