Assessing the Importance of the Primary Sources
in Understanding the Grand Narrative of Philippine History

Instructions: Give (3) three reasons why the documentary,


Raiders of the Sulu Sea, is important to the grand narrative of
Philippine history.

1.
Raiders of Sulu Sea accounts that the first religion to enter the
country was Islam. It was introduced by the neighboring
countries Brunei and Malaysia to the people of Mindanao
whenever trading happens.



2. It documents the early economic activity of the Muslims such


as slave raiding, resources trading, marine navigating, and
ship and sword making.



3. The documentary can serve as evidence that provinces included in the


Bangsamoro region has their own sovereignty and can be considered as an
independent country due to its culture, social classes, and religion.
