Opinion Essay: Task 2 Essay

There is a trend in many parts of the world that people in the rural areas are moving to cities,
resulting in the decrease of population in the countryside. While some people think that this trend
has a negative impact on the development, in my opinion, people moving from the countryside to
cities is good for the development.

On the one hand, with the increasing population of citizens, many problems may arise . Firstly ,
it will add to the burden of the traffic. This is because with an increasing number of individuals
in the cities, there are more vehicles on the road during the rush hour, which will cause more
traffic jams. Secondly , it will be negative for the development of the rural areas. To be more
specific, there are fewer people in the countryside compared to the past, resulting in a labor
shortage . Consequently, this lack of labor will lead to the decrease in the production of food.

On the other hand, the trend of population movement has benefits for the development.
Individuals moving to the cities can get a good job more easily so that they can get a good salary
to increase the quality of their daily lives. In particular, the great increase of labor is of great
importance to a higher productivity and the rapid development. For example, China has lifted
millions of people out of poverty and this is partly due to people moving to the cities.

In conclusion, I would argue that the increasing population of people in the cities brings more
benefits for development, thus it is a positive trend.
