1.DESCRIPTION

KGM Series Hand-Lever Guillotine Shears are being used in small workshops producing
electric boxes, solar energy tanks and panels, repairing car hoods, cooling components and similar
metalworking jobs. This machine cuts the sheet metal to the dimension and angle. Hand-Lever
Guillotine Shears can also be used in paper works.

2.HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS

The machine runs by hand operation with mechanical working system. The capacity of
cutting is up to 1280 mm width and 2 mm of thickness. Metal sheets are prepared for cutting to the
dimension by the help of “back stop” and the “ruler” on the table, and then clamped to fix the
dimension before cutting. The upper blade is moved downwards by hand operation and the material
is cut. The back stop allows the operator cutting the material in various angles and shapes. The
spring mechanism on the back stop avoids the blade touching to the back stop during the shearing
operation in case narrow strips are cut.

4.TRANSPORTING, LIFTING AND CARRYING

Before preparing installation process, machine should be checked whether any damage
occurred during transportation and handling process. If one or more parts of the machine have been
damaged, then you must call us before installing the machine. We do NOT accept any excuses
about transportation damages, if you installed and ran the machine before reporting us.

Move down the upper blade to the lowest position. Put a string from the bottom of hand
wheel to counterweight bar. Hold the string by a crane and move. Please do not move from the scale
rod under the machine (see Figure 2)

WARNING: Lifting and carrying operations must be done by skilled people to avoid unexpected
accidents.

5. SETTLEMENT OF THE MACHINE

Depending upon the owner’s choice, the machine is recommended to settle up as follows:

First of all, fixing bolts should be located on the ground. The machine’s feet should be
aligned to the bolts and then put on the ground carefully. The fixing bolts should be tightened
strongly. The ground should be flat and in alignment to the machine level. If the machine will be put
near a wall or another machine, the distance between(F distance) them should be at least 3
meters.(Figure 3)

6.OPERATING OF THE MACHINE

Check the following points before every use;

a- Check the back stop and the alignment.

b- Clean the upper and lower blades and lubricate them.

c- Check the sheet metal material thickness.

d- If the cutting length will be adjusted by back stop, fix the back stop distance according to
the cutting dimension.

e- If the cutting operation will not be fixed according to the back btop, then use the ruler on
the table to adjust the cutting dimension.

f- If you want to cut with an angle, please adjust the back stop properly.

g- Move the sheet metal to the back gauge, and move down the sheet clamping arm and ‘y’
piece.

h- Move down the upper blade when material is ready for cutting.

i- After cutting operation, release the clamping arm and take out the material.

j- If you want to continue cutting, put the material again on the table.

k- Leave the upper blade at the lowest level when you do not use the machine.

7. ADJUSTING THE MACHINE

Please keep the below instructions in mind, if you do not want to make any mistakes;

a) Adjustment of the Back Stop and the cutting angle:

If the hand wheel activating the Back Stop is not turning easily or the scale rod is so tight,
please release the bolt (no 1). Do not release the bolt too much. When you want to cut to angle,
please release the bolts (no 2), adjust the angle and tighten the bolts. When you finish angled cutting
process, release the bolts and move the Back Stop to the lower blade closely and tighten the bolt
again. Now 90 degree angle cutting adjustment is done.

b) Adjustment of ‘y’ piece:

This ‘y’ piece is used for clamping the metal sheet on the table in order to avoid moving or
slipping. There is a screw on this ‘y’ piece. This screw is for avoiding the ‘y’ piece going under the
upper blade. Before cutting operation this screw should be adjusted.

c) Height adjustment of the Upper Blade:

The screw behind the upper blade (axe) is adjusted to cut maximum 1020 mm length. This
screw avoids the upper blade moving up too much or overlapping on the lower blade. The operator
should not play with this screw but check it often. Otherwise blade damages will be excluded from
the guarantee.

d) Adjustment of Clamping Arm:

By means of this arm the sheet clamping system is fixed. If this arm cannot be completely
tightened, please tighten the bolt (no 1). If this doesn’t work, please call for service.

e) Adjustment of Cutting Blade (upper blade):

If you want unblurred and straight cut, this adjustment should be done properly. Before
delivery of the machine the proper adjustment is done by the assembly personnel at the factory. But,
by sometime of working this adjustment can be ruined. In this case please release the 5 nuts (see

6
Figure 5). The set-screws (no 1, 2) should be tightened equally, and then give some tolerance to
screws no 3,4,5 and tighten the counter-nuts. Do not tighten the set screws 3, 4, 5 too much,
otherwise there will be too much gap between upper blade and lower blade and this is not suitable
for a nice cut. After these adjustments finally adjust the screw no 6 for upper blade’s proper working
condition.

8. LUBRICATION AND PERIODICAL MAINTENANCE

To make the machine working properly and long life, lubrication and periodical
maintenance should be done regularly. Please follow the instructions in Figure 6.

a- Upper and lower blades (1) should be cleaned and lubricated before every use.

b- Scale rod (2) should be checked and greased.

c- The shaft that the axe is connected to (3) should be lubricated before every use.

9. IMPORTANT POINTS

a- Do not put your hands under the clamping mechanism or blade during the cutting
operation.

b- The material to be cut should not be sandy

c- Do not cut welded metal sheets or two strips of sheet metal together.

d- Do not cut material thicker than the machine’s shearing capacity.

e- Please follow the lubricating instructions carefully.

10. GUARANTEE
