DIA4013 CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Instructions

This is an individual assignment carrying 15% of the total marks available for the
module. Submission of assignment should only be through hardcopy and no submission
in the form of soft copies or any other sources (e.g. Instagram, WhatsApp etc) will be
accepted.

Format of the report:

It is the student responsibility to produce a clear and easily understood document. To do


this:
 Font size: 14 point for title/heading, 12 point for contents and 8-9 point for
headers/footers
 Font face: Arial
 Line spacing: 1.5
 Proper alignment of your paragraphs, and necessary page set-up.
 The report should not exceed 1000 words. Check the spelling and grammar in
your document.
 Use clear, short, and precise language.
 Number the pages.
 Create a table of contents for your document.
 For every figure in your document use a number and a title.
 Write references/citations in a standard format.
 Explain terms, acronyms, and abbreviations.
 Review the document and check for inconsistencies, omissions, redundancies.

TASK (ASSIGNMENT 1)

Argument is one of the elements in critical thinking skills. Thus, for this assignment, the
students are required to create one (1) situation/problem and solve the situation/problem
by applying the argument and critical thinking skills, and they are required to prepare an
essay to explain the whole situation/problem and process to solve it that include the
following deliverables:

1. Introduction:
- Define ‘critical thinking’ and ‘argument’
- What is considered as an argument in critical thinking?
- What is not considered as an argument in critical thinking?

(15 marks)

2. Main content (based on situation):


- Explain the situation/problem that you have created.
- Based on the situation/problem, explain the critical thinking standards and
its importance that can be applied to solve the created situation/problem.
- Explain characteristic of critical thinker contains in the created
situation/problem.
- Explain the barriers of critical thinking in the created situation/problem.
- Is there any good or bad argument in the situation/problem created?

3. Flow Chart
- Based on the situation/problem created, design the flow chart from the
first step until the problem is solve by utilizing the critical thinking
strategies.

4. Conclusion:
- In your own words, provide the conclusion for the whole writing.
- Explain in your own words, the benefit of applying critical thinking skills
in daily life.
- What would be your suggestion to encourage people to utilize critical
thinking in addressing daily life situation?

5. Organization
- Ensure to meet all format requirements based on the instruction on page 2.
- Ensure to attach the complete group cover with the correct names, matric
ID and signed as 1st page. Attach the rubric as the last page of your
assignment.
- Submit hard copy to the lecturer on the date of submission during the
lecture.
