The method statement for the construction of pile cap and wall stem of Abutment No. | will be submitted separately. 2.0 Area of Concern The Abutment No. 1 is located close to the existing KCRC East Rail track. The working space is very limited and the construction works is highly concerned on the safety and impact to the nearby KCRC facilities, therefore particular considerations must be well thought-out on the methods and sequence of works, The safety precaution will also be detailed in this method statement. 3.0 Preparation Works + Acatch fence any debris intruding into the tracks of KCRC ill be erected along our works area to shield the lifting appliance and prevent ay and overhead line mask. * Set up the monitoring system according to PS1.89 for monitoring the KCRC track. The ‘monitoring system shall be agreed with KCRC before commencing the piling works. + Detection and trial trench for checking the underground existing utilities or structures shall be implemented before commence the piling works or excavation works. 4.0 Construction Sequences 4.1 Construct the temporary retaining wall as shown on the sketches attached in Appendix A. 4.2 Cut the existing slope to form the temporary working platform 4.3 Construct the temporary working platform for construction works of bored piles for Abutment No, 1. Please refer to our Method Statement for Working Platform for Bored Pile Wall for reference on the method of constructing the temporary working platform. 4.4 Erect the Catch Fence on top of the temporary retaining wall, Please refer to Appendix B for the design of catch fence, ‘Page: 3 of4 Method Statement for a Construction of Abutment No. 1 | Prepared by; WL Checked by: TC 45 Construct the bored piles for Abutment No. 1. Please refer to our Method Statement for Construction of Bored Piles for reference. 5.0 Plants and Equipments 51 Backhoe 5.2 Mobile Crane 53 Dump Truck 54 Roller (3T) 5.5 Vibrating Plate 5.6 Baby Roller 5.7 Bending Machine 5.8 Welding Machine 5.9 Air Compressor 5.10 Generator 6.0 Safety Precaution 6.1 Allpersons must wear safety helmet and reflective jacket when entering the working area. 62 All Personal Protective Equipment must keep in good condition and deliver to relative person, and ensure all workers have already taken the necessary PPE. 6.3 All machineries must be operated by licensed or competent persons 6.4 Establish a restricted radius from machinery for preventing persons from hitting during turning operation, and the turning crane is not allowed to enter the railway zone 6.5 — Guard rail should be fenced off the trench to prevent people from falling, 6.6 Provide toolbox lessons to all workers, 6.7 All workers must attend the required KCRC’s safety training courses before they are allowed to work inside KCRC premises. 7.0 Environmental 71 To minimize dust emissions, the amount of soil, and the dust generation potential should be kept as low as possible, This can be accomplished by water sprays, surface compaction, temporary fabric covers, minimizing the extent of exposed soil, and prompt re-vegetation. Heights from which excavated materials are dropped should be controlled to a minimum | ~~ 4otd ia ee | Method Statement for ors ft = | Construction of Abutment No. 1 iL practical height to limit fugitive dust generation from loading/unloading, 7.3 Any stockpile of dusty materials shall be either covered entirely by impervious sheeting or placed in an area sheltered on top and the 3 sides. Sprayed with water or a dust suppression chemical so as to maintain the entire surface wet. 7.4 Wastewater generated from the washing down of mixer trucks and drum mixers should wherever practicable is recycled, The discharge of wastewater should keep to a minimum, 7.5 Sedimentation tanks are provided for treatment of effluent prior to the discharge. 7.6 Stagnant water should be inspected weekly.
