DHM 1223 Epidemiology

Objective

The objective of this assignment is to enable students to understand the significance of


epidemiology in informing scientific, ethical, economic, and political discussions related
to health issues. By providing explanations on various modes of disease transmission,
discussing two diseases for each mode, and exploring prevention and control measures,
students will demonstrate their ability to apply epidemiological knowledge to address
public health challenges effectively.

Instructions

This is an individual assignment carrying 20% of the total marks available for the
module. Submission of assignment in hard copy to the lecturer during lecture and soft
copy to be uploaded in Google Classroom.

Task - Oral Presentation


Classifications were given of major infectious diseases. List the five modes of
transmission and provide examples

The deliverables of the topic should be as follow:

1. Introduction to modes of transmissions


2. Discussion-Five different modes of transmissions
- Explanation on each mode of transmission
- Explanation on TWO diseases for each transmission
3. Conclusion.
- Prevention and Control
- General summary of the presentation and what is learned from the
assignment.

4. Reference (all necessary sources are to be cited accordingly by adhering to APA,


7th edition style referencing).

Your presentation should include the following deliverables;

1. Use of PowerPoint slides to present.


2. The Oral presentation should not exceed more than 45 minutes.
3. Presentation slides are attached with the report and Individual Assignment submission
cover as the first page and the Oral presentation Rubric as the last page. (Refer to your
respective Google class for the submission form and rubric template).
4. Submit the complete slides in hard copy to the lecturer before presenting.
5. Show professionalism by dressing formally and being punctual for the presentation.
6. Show confidence and good command of language during the presentation.
7. Focus on explaining the slides with your own words rather than reading the slides
entirely. Students who only read the slide will not be awarded more than average marks.
8. Ensure all the technical needs are well prepared prior to the presentation to avoid any
delays during the day of presentation.

PLAGIARISM
